Panni:

I agree with your comments and analysis of Team Florida's performance. I could not have stated them any better. I cannot understand why some of the readers interpret my comments as negative. There is no doubt that MBA had no excuses. They simply could not touch your pitchers. I have never seen or heard of them before. Maybe they always pitch that way. I really don't know. I have heard that during the college baseball season MBAs coach is not usually present and the team is coached by parents who happen to be good baseball people. They could have been coached by Bobby Cox and nothing would have changed the outcome. Panni, if you're a parent or coach from Team Florida, congratulations. You have a great team. Go to Atlanta and show everybody that you're the new sheriff in town. Good luck and please don't confuse analysis with criticism.

I haven't posted in over a year on this website but I just had to make a post to defend a 12 year old baseball player, who more than proved to be dominant, pitching in 2 terrific outings this weekend. He hit his locations all weekend, change up and cutter kept MBA off balance all weekend, making the fastball very effective. Wow, this sounds like I'm talking about Tom Glavine...no Greg Maddux.

4 games, MBA averaged 11 runs per game this weekend, not counting the 2 games against TF. So I don't think the excuse of the bats weren't hot this weekend will fly.

TF, not only beat MBA twice, they shut them out twice and once by run rule. Please raise your hand if your team done any better. Bandits came pretty close.

As for the game against The Bullets, a hard time beating them, is quite exaggerated. The Bullets scored 4 in the 1st and didn't score again. TF answered with 7 in the bottom of the 1st and went on to win 10-4. Not exactly a nail biter in my opinion.

IN 6 games, TF gave up 2 runs in the 1st inning of the 1st game and gave up 4 runs in the 1st inning of the 5th game. The other 4 games, TF was no scored on.

TF v. MBA on Saturday was a great game. You don't see too many 1-0 games at this level. This game could have gone either way. BH threw a great game for MBA. I read the post that he began to tire in the 5th. His fast ball still had the same velocity it did in the 1st inning and curve was still nasty. Maybe TF just started hitting the ball. TF threw #13 and #5 who made few mistakes. There was some great defensive plays made on both sides and #12 for MBA hit a shot 305' that short hopped the fence at 310' into about a 10-15 MPH wind.

TF v. MBA on Sunday. I don't think any parent, coach or fan who was there would disagree that TF deserved the Championship. Umping was fair, brackets didn't seem to matter, weather was awesome, pitchers for both teams seemed alright.

I'm not a big fan of degrading a kid calling them 'slightly better than average' when he just pitched the best game of his young carrer. MLB Scut, I don't think your 'in person' services will be needed in ATL Super NIT.

I got to see most of the games via webcast. At times they were very difficult to follow due to the poor quality of the transmission but I guess better than nothing. Team Florida exposed MBA's weakness: the changeup or curve ball. I had never seen them play before but they surely didn't play like the #1 team in the country. They could not score a run against slightly above average pitching during 10 innings. The position for the best 12 under team is wide open and likely will go to a team from the West coast or a team from Georgia (Bandits). It seems to me that Team Florida played well against MBA yet they had a hard time beating a brand new team that plays mainly in the AAA division. I'll try to follow the Georgia super NIT since Team Florida, Bandits, and MBA will be competing. I may even consider attending it in person. I would not be surprised if another team from Georgia other than the Banditsd wins it. I think it is going to depend on pool play matchups and the how the brackets sort out.
The pitcher from TF really did not seem dominating; the MBA batters lacked discipline and patience at the plate. How can MBA bat 4 lefties in a row??? MBA made several mental errors on defense. TF stole bases without any difficulty. Not once did the MBA coaches call for a pitch out. Team Florida won the tournament without any argument. However, in my opinion they beat a team which seems to be in disarray. I would like to hear G-man's opinion since he seems to know them very well.

I don't think that anyone should count out MBA as they have been in this spot before and rebounded just fine. It is still much too early to be handing out crowns but I do say that my point of the field of teams in 12U being much stronger than last year has been proven early and I think the lessons has just begun.

I predict that there will be many other contenders on both coasts that run up against a pitcher that they just can't handle for that one game and that all of us will lose more games than we are accustomed to losing.

The Super NIT should begin to shake things out a little and if these out of town teams are just looking for the Bandits then they will get the surprise of their lives if they take the other Georgia teams lightly. It's been all the Bandits could do to win in Georgia so I give fair warning to my out of state friends and that is you should be sure and bring your "A" game every game or some of these other Georgia teams will bite you good.

Baseball Papa, I couldn't agree with you more. Overlooking any team in ATL Super NIT would be a recipe for disaster. One game at a time. I do remember TF leaving Winder on the 1st train out Sunday morning in the Fall. I don't think we were looking past that 1st game, just ran into a good pitcher early. As for MBA, I don't look too deep into them not playing in ATL. They already have their E32 berth. They may just need a break.
