We are playing USSSA and we are not a major team I would like any opinions on World Series or National Tournament's that you guys have had a great or not so great experience at. This is my first year planning this and any advice would be appreciated. We will be qualified for most based on our tournament schedule.
I coach a 14U team in south Georgia. We have played in several "World Series" type events over the past few years. We always try to pick an event that offers at least a 5 game guarantee or maybe more. We went to one last year that offered a 7 game guarantee but they used a drop down format. It was a great tournament but if you lost a game in bracket play there was not way you could fight your way back thru to win the tournament.
This season we are giving serious consideration to the USSSA W.S. in Orlando at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. Now qualifying, etc. Just sign up and pay your money. I spoke to them and it is a 5 game guarantee. Not sure about the format at this time.
We checked into the Ripken event this year but it was sold out and they have a waiting list. You are correct, it is very expensive.
The tournament in Orlando I mentioned is a good option. The entry fee is fair plus they do not require you to stay inside the Disney complex. You can stay wherever you choose which will be easy on the parent's pocketbook. All that is required is that you are registered as a USSSA team, pay your money and you are good to go.
