EC Orange does have 4 kids that were born before May 1, 2008. Those kids are eligible for 12U since they are the class of 2027. Kennesaw Generals and Barrett Braves Davis(Smartense) have 1 player each. Reclassifying has become more and more common. Perfect Game 12U tournament August 7-9, I watched Yalobusha Giants 2026 (Mississippi) outscore their competition 57-8, in 5 games. Yalobusha had 6 older players “playing down.”
12u seems to be the penultimate year where doing this pays dividends. It's the time when some kids are well into puberty and others have yet to start. Moving forward with each passing year is where talent and development take over and many of these 12 year old boys in 14-15 year old bodies will come back to the pack and/or be passed.
