How many rosters is a usssa player, in the same age group and same classification, allowed to be on beginning January 1, 2011? Is there a freeze date that would preclude a player from being on more than one same age/same classification team? |

Im not 100% sure, but I believe once the rosteer is frozen by that team qualifying for a berth, that player is frozen to that team. If he is released, he can only join a team of the same or greater classification in that age group. |

Read rule 3.00, it explains it all.
A1: as many as he wants (with proviso's) A2: April 1st (with proviso's)
You have to read it for yourself. Its tough to "Cliff Note" and the proviso's are "hard stops", so cannot skimmed over. |

Nasty, you are correct about a team roster being frozen after winning a USSSA tourney. But I still believe that a child can be released by a team to go play with another. How about this... I think that a roster should be frozen after a team starts the spring season. You have had the fall and late winter months to build a team and "feel" out perspective new teams. If a child(parent)decides to quit a team after the first tourney, he should sit out a set cooling down period of USSSA tournaments(nation wide). The child can still play ball, but not in USSSA. Go play Nations, Grand Slam or Triple crown. This would level the field for those teams that can't pay a STUD to come play the big Super NIT's and Elites. I don't want to keep a child from playing ball but if he wants to jump from team to team, he should consider playing showcase tournaments. Another option would be sign a USSSA contract(letter of intent)to a team for one year. Boy this would ease the minds of a lot of coaches early in a season knowing you would have a solid roster. They could treat it just like colleges and go recruiting showing off the teams previous records and players already signed to the team. I mean travel baseball has already evolved to college level with hitting, pitching, strength conditioning, and computer analyst of players. Again I've gotten off topic. Just another topic I'm passionate about.
There is always exception, Those rules would have to be considered per child. |

When you go and look at usssa rosters be aware of the show current button at the top. This will show you the current players. What you do not see is the release date. Freeze dates are April 1 unless you win and elite 32 bid and then it's frozen then. If a kid is released and the team is frozen, then he can not return to that roster. Many kids are on different rosters but that does not mean they ever even played with that team. My son was on 2 rosters last year but only played for 1 team. |
