I think the refund policy is just wrong, I could be completely wrong but don't teams often get the option to play on Friday or not?? It seems the teams closer in proximity always step up and help out by playing Fridays, all to be thanked with a $350 Friday game!! |

That was one expensive and chilly game for us! It's for a great charity, so that makes it a little better. |

Do you not get any refund on the gate fee? |

It definately makes it at least bearable......but we know that if the tourney wasn't for charity it would have ended EXACTLY the same way!! I just hope nobody profited from Friday, all that money that isn't refunded should go directly to that charity... |

Won't work, because of all the fields needed and the Rec leagues needing the fields for league play. |

It would have been nice if they would have cancelled a little earlier in the day (before check out) would have saved our team about $1000.00. I believe triple crown will do the right thing and pay 100% refund plus gate fee. Btw- not a lot of surprises on Friday scores but what happened to the 10-0 game with will park and wf dawgs? Didnt expect that one. |

Who says all ages need to play the same weekend? Split it up and then it would be easier to schedule because you need fewer parks each week. |

Hi Moccs - we felt bad for you guys, and some of the other teams that had to travel a distance for the tourney. Weather was horrible this past weekend, but absolutely beautiful for Feb tournaments the 2 prior weekends.
Not sure if I'd say the WP-WF game was a surprise though. Kent's team has played well, & most of the kids have played together for years. We didn't see the game Friday night, but did see a close WF win over WP a couple weeks ago @ Webb Bridge. There was 5 HRs between both teams in a tight 6-4 win by the Dawgs. Understand there was no HRs Friday night - the fields @ Sawnee Mtn are a good bit bigger.
A lot of teams going different ways this week, but looking forward to seeing everyone in a couple weeks @ Super NIT. |

FYI, the slugfest is refunding each team who played Friday night $50 of their gate fee so we'll end up getting close to half our money back. |

Since so many on this thread think they got ripped off or disagree with the refund policy I thought I would play devil's advocate.
First of all, all teams know the weather risk, especially this time of year and the refund policy is clearly stated. If anyone feels that strongly about it they don't have to sign-up for the tournament. This goes under either the category "buyer beware" or "don't cry over spilled milk". A couple said the refund policy wasn't fair or implied that enforcing it is somehow wrong. They put the policy in the contract so that in the event there is a rainout everyone would know the financial consequences and from strictly a business perspective, that TC won't get left holding the bag.
Also, a portion of the money is going to charity. I am sure TC did not put alot of money (if any) in their pockets on this one. There are numerous expenses including pre-tournament expenses that have to be paid regardless of the number of games played. I am sure for a HUGE tournament like this one the fixed costs are very high. It wouldn't surprise me if they actually lost money on this one.
The posters on this message board are as tough (or tougher) on TD's and how tournaments are run than as they are about umpires making bad calls! Tony & Donny put on great tournaments, arguably the best in our state and they both are stand-up guys. There are several other good TD's out there, certainly many, many more good ones than bad ones.
This tournament was a big disappointment but let's not take it out on the organization that works so hard and puts out a great product like TC does. It sucks that teams had to fork over so much for one game, that everyone had to at least pay the admin fees and the ones I really feel sorry for are the folks that came from out of town. But at least some of this money went to a great cause. |

Yeah I had will park tagged as a sleeper early on . They also have signed up to play major for the Super Nit so they must feel like they have a good group. We are looking forward to the Super Nit but will be a little light to say the least. BTW- keep getting emails requesting that one AAA team move to major NIT.Whats up with that because the list shows 25 teams committed. What good would 26 be for the major bracket and leave 31 in AAA?. I would vote for either Sandy Plains , Sm Panthers ,Homeplate , Chain , Bandits to volunteer. LOL |

Moccs, the Major category in the Super NIT is a 3 game pool play format and not everyone advances to bracket play. An uneven number of teams kills that format I was told. Either last team in is out or they will need another team to make the Major format work. The other divisions simply play 2 pool games with everyone advancing to a single elimination bracket. I don't understand it fully, but that's why they are looking for another team. I hope they find someone. Last team in I believe is the MegaStars and from what I heard they made their reservations in the fall, and simply paid late. Would hate not to have them in, and it's too bad the Florida Rays backed out. |

Makes a litle more sense now . Would hate to see the Megastars get turned away. Invite the North Florida Hurricanes or Auburn Slammers maybe they would come or bump one of the aaa teams back to their division if it would help bracket. |
