I agree AE, Longhorns will be very good. Competitive with any team next summer. I know that roster. Very solid

And really I was not trying to prop the team up. Just more trying to clarify the changes.

still added some solid players. 3 from PC Vipers , top pitcher from EC Longhorns (who threw 14-15 innings at the Elite 32 for the PC Vipers). They will have a slew of +80 mph arms.

15U Astros still have a ton of talent. 2,4,8,25,22 and the Pitcher from Louisiana from last years team and a Big catcher that was in the running for the 16U Astros. They will be very very good. AE am I missing anyone from last year?

jong,
5 went up to the 16U Astros, 3 went to the 15U Titans, 1 to the Longhorns, and 1 to the Atlanta Bluejays. One Stallion/Astro went to Rawlings.

But they filled back in and still have a strong core of the team from the last year. They have 20 players, so I would say they are covered.

20 players......see how that works for playing time. How many of these are PO's?

As for the # of PO's for the Astros, I don't know there is an official declaration but I would estimate 4-5. There may be position players that only end up pitching. Only time will tell. I am sure all those players have worked through what their role is and have set their expectations on what they will get out of being on that team.

I think the Titans have 23 currently on their roster, so they are definately covered. I think they have 7 PO's based on their roster.

Between Astros and Titans you could field 5 competitive teams! Not a fan of the "pitcher only" label.

20 players is very manageable if you have 6 POs. 5 OF, 2 Catchers, 3 Corner infielders and 3 or 4 middle infielders, 1 Utility player. When you play 60-70 games you can get all your players plenty of PT.

This is where Love and I have our debates.

I think it is very, very, very, difficult getting 20 players enough work. We played 85 games last year and not a single pitcher got "Enough" work because we had 18-20 players on the roster. At least 5 position players did not get enough AB's or position work to develop as much as they needed to.

Unless PO's are part of the primary rotation and position players don't pitch, it is hard to get those guys enough time on the mound. It is hard enough sitting around as a PO, but to get even less pitching time because position players pitch too, is tough to adjust to.

Just my opinion.

yo love , your point is well made but it all depends on how much the coachs want to rotate - substitute

if theyr after the W'S big time priority then this rotation wont go as hoped or should

6 PO'S is way too many if a good many of the position players can pitch

I don't know about you guys but I am not really concerned about how many innings my son pitches right now. As long as he's being seen by scouts. At 16 he's already on the radar @ several D1 schools and pro scouts. 30-40 innings for the spring is just fine with me, not the 60-80 like years past. Now it the time to refine his fielding and hitting skills. I'm really not interested in risking injury.

Bean,
I don't want my son to get overused, but I do want him to get enough quality work to develop his abilities, keep sharp, and learn to work thorough various situations. If he is just working an inning or two, just for the scouts (not sure how many scouts are really watching 15u kids), he is probably not getting that type of work. This year will be a little different for him as a freshman in HS. The travel season will not start until summer, rather than spring.

I think that are there are some really great teams at the 15 yr old level for sure at ECB and around the area. The coaching is very strong. Coach Guy will be moving up next year the 16 yr olds will be loaded with Guerry,Chance and Jeff. I know the Astros have 6 PO's, Titans have 7 Po's and the Titans will use 5-6 of them as starters so that their position guys can continue to hit. The Astros are comprised of Vipers,Astros,Stallions. The Titans are comprised of Stallions,Astros,Titans, and some other travel teams. Victor Morenos Pride teams looked okay an I know Coach Monahan helped him put it together. This group of coaches all work well together it seems and looks like the boys will be developed for sure this summer.

Was not involved but witnesses a brawl about two years ago. It was a 14U game and the base runner bowled over the catcher. The pitcher jumped on the runner and started throwing haymakers.

Quite a scene.

The only brawls (altercations) I've witnessed in youth sports over the years are parents vs parents, parents vs coaches and parents vs umpires.......most kids playing High School sports and below are fairly responsible with their actions however most parents are not.

i was involved in several in games after high school but nothing at the youth level thank goodness. What do you think would provoke a brawl at the youth level? Coaches not in control of their team, parents?
