How about a 7 tournament team 9u Coach...(not saying their isn't 10...but best 7 I have seen)

in NO order...
1.) EC Braves
2.) EC Longhorns
3.) Raiders
4.) WF Diamond Dawgs
5.) GA Yard Dogs (reputation only... haven't seen them this year)
6.) Elite Gamers
7.) Buzz

Possible others to make this fake tourney:
LL Copperheads
Home Plate

@West Coast Guru...as far as I can recall, there was no aabc state that year to determine what was what and Haleia Giants won the USSSA so as for the state of Ga, who knows and I could be wrong, just my recollection but the year prior and after the Raiders were the best team hands down. Now with that being said.........bring em on b/c we want em! Lol! Goooooooo Gamers! I'm absolutely loving this!

Gamers031....The Raider(BLue Jays when 6) haven't played AABC since they were 6, very talented group of kids that play hard....no doubt in that!!!

And yes last year they won State and the WS(and receiving the most luck I've ever seen one team get in one tourney)! They are definitely a top team this year, but just like the BCS in college football, all this ranking teams is nonsense right now. State tourney is less than a month....I will go on the results from those games to determine who is top dog this year!

@WestCoastGuru, I agree 100%. All the debating and bck and forth is just good conversation but the tourny will answer a lot of questions. Do you have a dog in the fight?

From a parent of another team team at the USSSA tournament in Gulf Shores.........CONGRATS to the Buzz for winning the tournament! The Buzz were also impressive in their win over the Yard Dogs (9-4) to get to the Championship. The Georgia teams did real well in that 3 of the final 4 teams were from Georgia.

I thought the tournament was very well run and it was interesting to see teams we don't usually see.

I was impressed with the FL teams defense and junk-ball pitching style. You could tell their pitchers are students of the game. Not so impressed with their dugout chatter at opposing pitchers; oh well.

If they have this tourney next year and are looking for a great family outing, do yourself a favor and go.

As a parent, nothing like watching the boys play some ball in the morning and then hitting the beach in the afternoon - evening.

Our team played in the TC State tournament in Cumming this weekend. Even though we were out early Sunday morning, a big CONGRATS to the Longhorns on their 5 wins today....very impressive!

This was the first TC tournament in which I walked away very disappointed. The mounds at Sharon Springs were horrible. Unfortunatly, the umpiring was even worse. There were 9U and 10U coaches who also commented on how terrible the umpires were this weekend.

Does anyone know how the umpires are selected for these tournaments?

The 11u umpires were equally as horrible and our field was never touched prior to any game. Very disappointing.

Equally disappointed in mounds. Umps started off OK, but as they were out in the heat game after game, it was like they just wanted to get out of there.

More disappointing was that for all the play in the heat for 9U boys, the ship awards were generic baseballs. Very disappointing when your son says this is the same ball we've gotten before.

What do you mean baseballs? Actual baseballs?

I was out there for part of the day and it was a scorcher. Even though the tournament is not about the trophy those kids who played all day and made it to the c'ship game should get more than a game ball.

It is unfortunate that there were so many issues with the fields and umpires this weekend.

Regardless, it sounds like the Longhorns have jumped back out on top as the #1 team in 9U. Congratulations!!!

Triple crown logo'd baseball in a case. I agree it's not about the trophy either. There was alot of great ball being played this weekend congrats to all those that survived the heat!

I do understand that it's not just about the trophies, but next year tournament directors will probably be giving out certificates of appreciation!

GoBlue not sure I would say #1 team in Ga. Team they played in the finals did not even make bracket play in Gulf Shores. Also if you go by most select formats they are out early. Don't get me wrong it was a great comback, however people need to think about calling a team the #1 team in Ga.

Not buzz or longhorn affiliated but I could go with buzz #1 and longhorns #2.

Have they played each other this year?

Smac - I don't think the Longhorns even played in the Gulf Shores tourney??? All I know is they came out on top in a very tough tourney this weekend.

Buzz Baseball Wins AAU Championship!
See below great article
Buzz Win AAU Grand Nationals at ESPN Wide World of Sports
Monday, 27 June 2011 11:24
- By Ernie Rapiere
Saturday June 25, 2011 Florida Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex was the site for the 2011 9U AAU Summer National Championships. This year’s champions came down to a final match-up between Buzz Baseball of Ringgold, Georgia and the Young Guns of Tampa, Florida. When the last pitch had been tossed, the 9U Buzz had taken a 4-1 victory to win the title as the 2011 AAU National Champions.
The #4 seed Buzz Baseball earned their way into the finals with a 6-3 win over a very good Central Florida Wolverines team. The #2 seed, West Florida Young Guns, beat TBS Honorable Mention (#3 seed) Florida Piranaz by a score of 12-2 to get their pass into the finals. This win brought the Buzz’ season record to 47-17 and marked their 6 tournament win of the year.
Winning big championships is not new for this team. They have played together for a number of years. They won their first big title as 6U's taking the Dizzy Dean World Series. They returned as the Dizzy Dean “Runner-Up” as 7U's, and went on to win the USSSA Global world series last year as 8U’s. However, while all of the big wins were great, none were any bigger than this win today. This team had been tested throughout the season having played a number of 10U teams. In fact, 13 of their 17 losses came against 10U teams.
Buzz Baseball comes from Ringgold, Georgia - a city located in Northwest Georgia that is quickly becoming known as a “Hot Spot” for producing champions. In fact, the current #1 team in the nation at 12U is the Bandits - another product of Ringgold, Georgia Baseball.
Congratulations to this fine young team. Winning an AAU National Title is an honor that will last a lifetime. Says Coach Scott Norton "Our win is a product of kids who like playing together as a unit. We have been together since the age of 6U and we are supported by great parents. These factors are the big reasons that helped us win”.
The great news for coach Norton is that all 10 players will be returning next year. This team has its goals set on Cooperstown. Watch out for the Buzz in 2012.
