With a lot of good teams entered in Slugfest anyone have any predictions for the 2 divisions?

You asked for predictions...and there are alot of talented teams - so in no way am I meaning to 'dis' any team...

Semi's - WFBDD and OP Sharks lose to.... (but I do think ANY team could get here).

Finals - Copperheads vs Longhorns (I wont predict a winner - but Copperheads did beat Longhorns twice in 7u DD State - although I understand that was 2 seasons ago and they both have gotten stronger).

But I am looking forward to see what happens!!! It's a shame Yard Dogs and Raiders arn't playing!

To be quite honest guys, don't be surprise if that lil Atlanta Angels 8u team make it to the ship in that Triple Crown Slug Fest. From what I saw they got more team speed than every team in the tournament. (They will drive your pitcher crazy!) I saw those youngsters go head to head with the 9u GA Yard dog Black, Disney Elite 32 bound, and #4 ranked 9u team in the nation according to travel ball select. That 8u Angels team played them to a 5-5 tie in a usssa tournament this fall. All I'm saying is you better keep em off the bases.

Good Luck to all!

Yeah, i watched those Atl Angels surprise some teams in that Oregon park tournament in the fall. They almost made it to the ship, came up short against the N Ga Renegades in the semi's. The Angels had beat them pretty handily earlier in pool play! They might upset some teams if they are overlooked, should be a great weekend of baseball!

I am looking forward to seeing the games at the Mike Mullens Memorial in Rossville. A free tournament with the North GA Renegades and the Buzz in the mix. Any other teams looking to play in this event.

You're right, coach. That should be an interesting mix of teams. We'll all be curious as to how the first few tournaments go at the beginning of the year. Lots of teams have a lot of kids going out of town this weekend. Otherwise, I think we'd all be dying to get out there, with all of this 60 degree weather. I'm hoping it stays this way and that the Groundhog was right - early spring. And, no disrespect to the Renegades or any of the other teams playing, but I'm sure everyone is looking to see if the Buzz get challenged at all, or if they just roll right through.

The Buzz won, dont know against who, or what the score was. They beat the Renegades 7-4 in pool play and 5-4 in semi's.

Buzz beat Terminators in finals. They actually beat the Renegades 9-4 in pool play and 3-2 in bracket play. The bracket play game was a complete game pitching duel. It was won on a 2 out single in the bottom of the 6th.

After pool play, Hobgood was the 1 seed, Buzz 2 seed and Renegades 3 seed - not sure about the rest. Hobgood lost their first bracket game to the Tennesee Terminators who ended up losing to the Buzz in the 'ship. The Buzz v. Renegades score in the semi's was actually 3 to 2 with the Buzz scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 6th. It was an amazing game. Should have been the championship game in this tournament, but that's not how the brackets worked out.

The Buzz had to play the two best teams in the tournament twice. They drew the Terminators and Renegades in pool play and had to play them again in the bracket, Seems like that happens to the Buzz every week.

Would like to play in Atlanta more, but $500 a pop for tournaments plus travel is steep. We traveled almost every weekend last year. It was rough on our parents. Currently, we only have 3 out of town tournaments scheduled. Triple Crown has it going on in Atlanta. Southern Baseball is good here in north GA. I wish more of you guys would come to Dalton. We have good facilities...not like East Cobb, but good.

Buzz held there on with the 10U SBO Strikers, lost 4-3. Not bad considering they didnt throw number "1" or "2". That goes to show their talent and that pitching is deep.

I think somebody has to throw a shout-out to the East Cobb Braves for consideration as one of the best teams early. Two tourney wins back-to-back at Sandy Plains Feb Frost and Triple Crown Spring Frost over some pretty stiff competition. Not too shabby. Congrats, Braves.

Who else looked good, did the NGa Renegades play in the TC Frost. They have a kid that can bring the heat.

Seen them play in the 10U tournament this past weekend and there's no doubt they are a talented 9U team. They have a pitcher that should be dominant at 9U.

I'll second this shout out. The Braves have a VERY solid ball club. We played them in the championship game in both the Sandy Plains and TC Frost. In both games they came from behind in the 6th inning to win. They do not quit!!! We look forward to those types of battles as hopefully they make us stronger down the road. They pounded on the Gamers, so I'm just glad we had a chance to win in both championships.

Good Tournaments This Weekend:
BLUE/GRAY GLOBAL NIT (DALTON)- Boynton Buzz, RBI Rangers, NG Renegades, WF Diamond Dawgs, TN Terminators

ATLANTA BLUE JAYS INVITATIONAL (ATLANTA)- ECB Longhorns, ECB Braves, OP Sharks, Yard Dogs

Which matchups do you think will be the best of the weekend? Championship game thoughts?

I would have liked to see the Buzz in the Blue Jays Invitational. I have seen them play and I believe they could easily handle the ECB Longhorns.
