Coach's, myself and Scottie Mobley ( USSSA Alabama State Director) are putting together something i have been wanting to do for years. A true "Battle of the Best" NIT. Bringing teams from all over the Southeast for a mid-summer clash w/ braging rights will be on the line for this one and guess what???? Rosters will be already frozen so bring what you have and no FREE pick up's for the weekend. This event will be held Memorial Day weekend (May 27-30) in Gulf Shore/Orange Beach Alabama. Come play on some the best looking fields you will see all year. Ages 7u/8u KP & 9U-14UMyself and Scottie are still working out some of the details/format BUT i couldn't wait to get this out.
We are determind to draw the best teams in all age group from the Southeast and to insure that happen's, we will be offering some AT LARGE PAID ENTRY BERTHS....YES YOU HEARD RIGHT.....AT LARGE PAID BERTHS... Make plans now as the teams list will start very soon. More details to follow and call me with any questions.

Is that the same weekend as the East Cobb Battle of the South tournament? |

I understand the term frozen roster by USSSA definition, but don't all USSSA teams have the option of adding/dropping 3 players from a frozen roster as long as they don't return to their original team??
Please inform me as I would like to know the rules regarding whether or not we could add a piece for a big week long tourney...Thanks |

Gwinnett: yes i think ECB is doing something big that weekend for the 11u age group and it is stacking up very good also.
Spartan4: Sorry, i should clerify what that means. Yes the rosters will be frozen and yes you can use one of your 3 adds for that weekend and drop afterwards. What i meant was that lots of teams use other players prior to April 1st and don't have to burn one of the 3 moves.. |

Sounds great but adding a big tourney in AL does nothing to address the insufficient number of GA SNITs. |

Agree, GA needs more NIT's, we played the best LA had to offer last year and it was night and day between GA teams. Anyway you can work on this Bubba??? Or at least give a reason for the lack of a 2nd??
I didn't read the dates correct or where you had put "FREE" pickup, thanks for clarifying.
Is it possible to offer an NIT at a different date?? I know you will have a hard time pulling teams from such a great event at ECB. |

baseballready: I have no control over the amount of Super Nit events we have in Georgia or the number of berths that are gave. If i did it would be different. In terms of a big tourny being in Alabama, The major teams are always looking for the top competitive events to go play so i thought i would give them one on a Holiday Weekend at the beach on some of the nicest fields i have seen. I would love to do the same thing in Metro or North Atlanta but it's hard to get that many fields and be able to offer all age groups. Any suggestions?
Spartan4: I do realize that in the 11u it will be hard to attract the better teams as most are already going to East Cobb and that is great. Those guys are really working hard and it will be a great event at a great park. We will do the best we can in the 11u with what we can get and if for some reason it doesn't make. Well, we can take more teams in other age groups.
Also, there will be plenty of NIT events this year across Georgia. Two of my bigger one's will be the Global WSQ NIT Feb 25-27 AND the 7th Annual Clash of the Champions NIT May 13-15. |

I am confused as to what an NIT berth is compared to a Super NIT berth, this won't be a Disney berth will it?? |

A NIT is a double points event and WSQ and that's what the Battle of the Best NIT is.. A Super NIT is a Elite 32 (Disney) qualifier. You must win a Super Nit OR come in 2nd if the Super Nit is getting 2 berths. Hope this helps. |

Yea that is what I was thinking, the NIT term just makes it confusing....Also if the winning team has already secured a Super NIT berth the 2nd place team gets offered the berth to Disney correct?? |
