Looks like there are 10 teams in this one with a very nice group of teams for a fall tournament. I think the EC Rays, Outlaws, Barrett Baseball & the NG Bulldogs make the final four.

I think clearly the Outlaws and Rays are the favorites but watch out for Barret and G4G had a pretty good run in the last nations tournament.

I was so close, the EC teams were the easy choices but it looks like NG had they hands full with a good G4G team. I think the upcoming Triple Crown tournament has a little stronger field even though there are only 8 teams in that one.

I heard the Rays and Outlaws were both very strong. Parkview's team had some good players and hit the ball very well. The Outlaws were on a roll all weekend and really improved their roster. ALOT of speed and ALOT of big hitters. Very strong pitching also. Maybe the pecking order of 11 U EC teams is going to be alot different then some predicted.

It was a fun tourney and we had a great time playing, I know mine was shocked at the difference in the mound difference. It has been said before but I think the hitting is going to be much more impressive this year, and ace pitchers had still better have a defense this year.....Many more balls will be put into play this year.

Woodstock/Canton area, most are from the old Cherokee Reds and Canton Stinger teams which are no longer together. BTW, G4G is named after one of their sponsors.

I've known their coach for a few yrs and I asked him that same question on Saturday. lol

Heard this was a good scouting/recruiting opportunity as well, several parents being given cards in the stands from other head coaches. Some even being recruited in the parking lot after a game, I feel sorry for the coaches who need to come to other tournaments and recruit players.

Why do you feel sorry for them??? I can see how some people would think that recruiting is classless but it is a major part of the game at the upper levels. Why shouldn't these coaches do what it takes to make their sons teams as good as possible?? I have no idea what team your son is on so don't think this comment is directed at you in any way, but whenever I hear negativity about recruiting, allowing kids from far away to miss practice, or trying to compete nationally it is almost always from somebody who says "10U baseball means nothing" or "wait til they get to the big field." Why not just let the best at this level enjoy it?? Most dads have ZERO clue where their son will end up, so why all the negativity towards these coaches/parents who only want their sons to compete against the best and play in the big tourneys???

Good point Madskills. Which begs the question I was hit with recently from another coach. The end of season 2010 summer - posted tryouts for upcoming season 11u team and got a couple of good prospects. Two of the prospects had previously played with another team. Should I have checked with manager before giving the tryout? Or Since they came to me for the tryout is it ok. I have never set out to hurt any ones team but if they want to play what obligation do I have to the other coach prior to the beginning of the new season. I see a few kids jump teams in North Georgia every year. I have also had coaches speak with my players after a game against them. Any input from the group would be appreciated.

Coaches DO NOT own players......Kids as well as parents get tired of seeing the same 3-4 kids make error after error, and many boys outgrow their teams. Start with a AA team and soon realize they don't need to be playing there, they move to major. Of course that hurts the AA team but what makes that team more important than that individuals development?? It is the parents responsibility to challenge their son and make sure he plays with similar competition.

The strategy of continuing to cut kids throughout a season is not the right way to build a team, even an elite team. At some point, you will have burned too many bridges to have options with kids or parents who have heard about your program and your methods. For example, look at the EC Braves, they have been the best 11U team in GA and one might argue the SE and they have traditionally kept their team together throughout their season. There is something to be said about building chemistry and trust between teammates and more importantly prospective player for the next season. As a coach of a team, part of their job should be to develop talent, any coach can recruit talent and thrown them on a field to win. These were the same things a certain high profile coach used to do in another age group at EC and he's no longer there.

In reference to recruiting methods, I don't agree with coaches stopping by a tournament and recruiting kids while they are playing. If you want to call them outside of that, there might be nothing wrong with that but why be a distraction during a tournament? I assume these players are already committed to teams so the question one has to ask is why didn't these coaches recruit these kids prior to them committing to their current team?

I am pretty sure the Braves have made changes every year.....I didn't say that teams should cut half their roster every year. And I don't remember the last time I saw a AA player on the Braves....The teams recruiting were trying to add one more major type player to their roster. And the "recruiting" was going on right next to us, all that was asked is "hey where are yall playing next year"....Then the PARENTS said we have no idea, we are gonna look at a couple teams.....I'm not sure but I don't think the parents did anything to discourage the "recruiting" there. BTW the recruiting was between two EC teams.....Does that mean one of those coaches won't be there next year???
