If they combine the best players from the longhorns and yankees and leave a few spots open for new comers or standouts at the tryouts then they will have the best team at East Cobb at the 10U level. If they do not then it will just be another 10U team chasing the elite teams outthere and it will tarnish the East Cobb Astros name. Funny they waited so long to announce this after all of the teams got the great players to commit already.
I wonder if this will impact the Yankees and Longhorns? Are the Astros going to be able to select their team like the older age groups? I doubt it at this age which makes it surprising that the Astro name is being used at 10.

Lets all wait until tryouts on the 7th and 8th at EC. There is an unbelievable team that has been put together not knowing their team name. I know the Longhorns have picked up 2 kids from the yankees and 1 kid from Kennesaw. With those 3 additions I am not sure who can touch them in the 10u group next year. Lets all wait and see what happens during and after tryouts at EC. Nothing is certain, and is up to EC to finalize. EC will have the best 10u team in GA, and hopefully the nation, no matter what happens.
One of the Reasons Super Teams don't work at such a young age is Parents. Most not all,But most Parents think little Johnny is Super Star. So when Johnny doesn't get the playing time they think he deserves or play's the position they think Johnny should be playing they move on. By the time they are 12+ there usually has been a Pecking order set and Johnny's parents realize that Johnny is not as good as they think.
I am not saying that this is the way all the time. Just most of the time.
I believe that EC is creating a "ASTROS" 10U to compete in the NYBC in Tenn. All the other big programs around the nation have been focusing Their attention on qualifing their 10's & 12's for that tourney.
I agree with you totally California, about putting an elite team together for the tournament. The problem is that if east Cobb head guys don't give the team to the right coaches it will be a daddy ball team (team put together so that a few boys who are not worthy can have a good team to play with). If they do it the right way it will be a phenominal team. East Cobb will have the elite team in the state we just won't know the team name until they take the field.
