Great Tournament, the who's who of GA Elite Baseball along with some great teams from out of state. Who would like to venture a guess of who the final four will be and the eventual Champion? This will definitely come down to the team that can keep it together every game. Also the team that stays in the winners bracket will have the advantage.

Papa is one that has never said a negative thing about the Shamrocks. What a team this is. I still say that this 12 year group of teams is the toughest in the history of youth baseball in Georgia. I think that this has already been proven by the fact that no one team has completely dominated although the Shamrocks appears poised and set to do just this. Who's ready to knock them off the mountain top. Better have a big stick as these guys can rock.

There's no crying in baseball..yes like I said earlier the Astros are still good, but they didn't win and all the other are good teams, but they started the same way in beginning of pool play. It's the Shamrock's time in the spotlight. Early this spring season several critics had negative comments, but look what happens when you just play the game.

Why was it so difficult to post updates on the web like baseballpapa said?

The "Rocks" pounded the baseball and had dominate pitching - Won 6-4 against Elite. Elite defeated Astros 15-10 in loser bracket and in the final game, the "Rocks" jumped to an early lead and rolled a no-hitter through the final game against Dynasty Elite. Run ruled 8-0 after 4.

Actually, the Elite came from behind to beat the Astros 7-5. Of course, that was their M.O. all tournament - come from behind wins.

But the Shamrocks have surged forward from the GA. pack. Big bats and effective pitching got it done. And at age 12, it doesn't hurt to look as big as they look. Many coaches from out of town commented on how intimidating they looked, plus they had the game to back it up.

I heard they were the first team to win all 7 games in this tournament.

If you mean in T.O.C. history, no. The two previous winners were also undefeated: 11u Astros ('08) and the 10u Texas Americans ('07). And it's easy to see why. Any team emerging from that brutal losers bracket is usually spent in pitching and energy - then has to beat the undeated winner twice. The caliber of teams in the tourney makes it virtually impossible.

Kudos to the Astro's for enduring the harshness of playing in the losers bracket and taking down good teams one by one and being just one game shy of repeating the Championship. It was a great tournament to watch, and we finally got to see first hand the Shamrocks close out with an impressive tournament run. I heard that the pitchers also combined for a no-hitter in the Championship. Congrats to the Astro's also for hosting another great tournament.

The East Cobb Shamrocks proved why they are one of the most feared teams in 12U. Up & down their line up they have ability to take it out of the park, great pitching and good defense. This a real classy team with great kids and coaches. I heard they were the first team to win all 7 games in this tournament.

Astros are still the Astros, not doubt about it! The top 5 REAL Georgia teams are: Shamrocks, Astros, ChiliDogs, Legends, Mill Creek. I truly beleve you could shake these up and on any given weekend come up in a different order. Geat tournament, great baseball all weekend.

Shamrocks won several close games. That is the mark of a great team...the ability to play well in the toughest conditions and tight games. It was certainly their weekend. Astros were very good this weekend also. The run they made in the losers bracket was outstanding. They sent a whole lot of very good teams home. The Chilidogs had another very solid tournament. They have been able to play very consistant basball all year long..playing deep in almost all of their tourneys including the BIG ones. Legends were rolling offensively this weekend until Sunday where they slowed down a bit. But a very nice showing from a first year team who seems to be getting more confident with every tournament they play in. Dont over look Mill Creek as they had 3 one run loses which just happen to be to the top 3 teams(Shamrock, Dynasty,Astros)

Overall a very nice showing from the Georgia Teams as 4 of the top 6 teams ended up from Georgia.

Great Tournament!!!

Astros put away weaker teams in losers bracket...

Earlier in this string it was said the Astros were not that good. Now, they beat "weaker teams". I think anybody who saw this tournament would disagree with the weaker teams estimation. There were lots of surprises and upsets. Teams sent home early nobody thought would be sent home early. The Astros got put in the losers bracket early by the Houston Lighting and battled all day Saturday and Sunday to make it to the final three teams before beaten by Dynasty Elite, 7-5. But give the 'Stros a little bit of credit: beating the Georgia powerhouses Mill Creek Hawks, ECB Longhorns, GA Legends, and HP Chilidogs in consecutive games couldn't possibly be easy.

Dynasty Elite and the undefeated Shamrocks in the final.

You've got to give credit where credit is due.... Regardless of their performance up until the TOC, the Astros woke up everybody while looking like the Astros of past seasons.
Legends continue to gain momentum and look strong.
All that being said...CONGRATS to the Shamrocks on a well played tournament.
Just may have confirmed that they are the BEST 12u in GA!!!!

Sunday morning in the winners bracket: Legends & Shamrocks have yet to loose in the tournament. Legends now have to play on the big fields all day tomorrow.

Shamrocks vs Georgia Legends 8:00 am
Dynasty Elite vs Houston Lightning ? 8:00 am

Chiefs lost 2 in a row in bracket play, ousted by Raleigh team. Chili Dogs lost to Houston late in day. Mill Creek losses close one to Shamrocks. Astros put away weaker teams in losers bracket, late night for everyone. Dust will settle around 11:00 am tomorrow to see who is left standing.
baseballpapa Posted - 06/06/2009 : 07:54:05
So far this has been a nightmare for finding out the seeding and bracket play. Why can't someone be in charge of keeping scores and schedules current. In Papa's time we had a reason to have to wait but in these times if someone would take charge we could get the scores before the teams packed their bat bags. Come on guys, There are a lot of people that are excited about this tournament and want to be kept up to date.
proball Posted - 06/05/2009 : 23:49:44
Does anybody have the seeding of the teams?
Strike 2 Posted - 06/05/2009 : 23:43:41
Any news? Can't find any scores posted from 12pm on. Rain?
Texas Baseball Posted - 06/05/2009 : 09:35:54
The Lightning are one of the top teams in Texas according to seriousbaseball.com rankings. If you get a chance to watch them, check out Caleb Morris. He is one of, if not the top 12U player in the Houston area.
tater77bug Posted - 06/04/2009 : 17:21:08
Yeah, the Astros have one crazy loss...and they have been beaten by very good teams...they aren't dominate for sure but they win and are well coached...they have had some injuries too...but they have a favorable pool and that could lead to pitch savings in the TOC...I like your list for sure...Legends are a first year team and ride the waves of a 1st year team...they lost a crazy game to the EC Longhorns where they gave up one hit and they lost the same night to the Chattanooga Colonels and gave up one hit....they are hot right now for sure...I hope the rain holds off...I want to see some of the big boys square off...I was hoping to see some of that Shamrocks- Lighting game...Chiefs- Dynasty should be a blast...some of the SF folks are talking real big....

Tater,

I have to agree with Slickrick.
The Astros haven't impressed this season and after seeing the Legends last weekend in Dalton I give the 5th spot to them.
Dynasty Elite is 6th (SF Team could bring a combo of players with loads of talent)
Astros are 7th (Favorable pool play could preserve their arms)

We're talking about the 12's
proball Posted - 06/04/2009 : 16:18:02
I'm not a big fan of the Astros, but I do respect their game. That's too bold of a statement that the Astros somehow fell off. One thing they do have is experience and team chemistry. Right now Legends are hot, but it seems they ran away from all the competition in the AAU states last week with most of top teams around. We'll see this weekend.
