Thanks for the information Baseball Papa. I ask because the EC Bulldogs defeated both teams in Sunday bracket play to win the tournament at Jack Mattox this past weekend and was not certain as to the calibur of these 2 teams.

Both are loaded with talent and appear to be ready to make a charge up the hill. We have been successful against both of these teams but it is because we know we must always play our best or we will come away with a defeat. |

I know that we would enjoy getting on the field with the Grip. As everyone knows we chase the best. Bandits bloodhounds are out and looking to find the Grip but they will have to wait a couple of weeks to see us. We are still up in the hills of Tennessee and North Alabama the next couple of weeks and then we plan on returning and checking this new phenom out. Did they eat the Scorpions as I have not heard anything about the Scorpions since my boy got hurt. Did they take a week off and I hear they may be up in Nashville with the Bandits this weekend. |

I moved here from Florida and have seen some fantastic ball players at this age. I have talked to a lot of fathers who have told me the same thing as I am hearing here. I know a few of them are not playing any longer. Which in my opinion is sad. You may think I am speculating, which is fine, but basic physics will tell you a ball will not curve without it spinning. I simply am saying I will not let my son throw anything close to a hook at this age. I feel if you are really good, I go back to location, location, location in this age. A good fastball that can be placed and a good change up. Why take a chance for 10 year old kids? Does not make any sens eto me, but then again, he is not my child. |

Clubhouse, I have not seen this boy throw. However it is not hard to throw a ball that breaks without a snap of the wrist. This pitch is thrown with the EXACT same arm motion as a fastball!!!! |

Two great teams with all the ingredients we all strive for; great boys, great Coaches, and great families supporting the effort. Lots of simiarities between these 2 teams. Biggest difference is that one has been around for a long time, and the other is the new kid on the block. I hope I'm there to see it.

We have seen him throw it on video again, and again, and again, ... in slow motion. He doesn't break his wrist.

I absolutely disagree with Clubhouse. He is wrong and if I had to listen to a specialist in this field and someone that is obviously only speculating, I will always go with the specialist. I have seen this pitch and the wrist does not appear to be breaking. It is nasty but all 4 of the Bandits throw something similiar and none are breaking their wrists. |

As you can tell from any court system in the world, you can find an expert to tell you anything you want to hear. In order to get the ball to rotate and move as a "hook" does, you myst spin it. I have been around MLB my whole life and this is a new one. It's his arm, I just hate to see a boy with this much talent be ruined for 10 year old baseball. I have seen him throw in tournaments before. He breaks his wrist. Good Luck. |

Congratulations to the Grip. Glad to see you coming on strong as it says much for your kids and coaches. Gives us Bandits another reason to get back to Atlanta before you big dogs start marking off our territory. Good news travels fast and if you were flying below the radar before this weekend you are now officially on the radar screen. You are the big blip in the center.
This win was huge for you and your kids and we look forward to seeing you.

Before a bunch of folks start hammering this kid's coaches and parents for letting him throw "hooks" I want to give you guys some information on this pitch. He has been taught to throw a 12-6 curve ball WITHOUT throwing it the traditional way. At no time does he snap his wrist or rotate him arm in a way that will cause damage like a traditional curve ball would. I've confirmed this with a Sports related orthopedic surgeon and a an MLB scout/pitching coach that still teaches kids to pitch today. His arm finishes in the same position that it would if he had thrown a fastball which makes the pitch even more effective.
I know there are still going to be skeptics but we have done careful research and if an expert told me it was going to cause damage, he would stop immediately.
BTW Shutout, thanks for the kind words about his performance.

Holly Springs beat Longhorns and then we lost to a very good Ga Grip team 12-9.We had our chances but commited way too many errors to win.The grip are definately one of the better teams in the state.Our hats our off to them for winning the tournament.Their pitcher in the championship game pitched a gem.

We played the HP Express in the semifinals and they are a legit Major team. Solid pitching, great hitters and first class coaches.
Didn't get the chance to face the Longhorns but interacted with some of their parents. Very nice people.

I saw the 2nd half of the 643/Grip game. What pitching from both teams. The kid from the grip was the best i've seen this year. I was a little disappointed with the amount of hooks he was throwing (however; they were unbeliveable hooks!) Congratulations to the Georgia Grip on winning the Nations Baseball Mid Spring Classic II.
In an exciting championship game the Georgia Grip edged the 643DP Cougars 2-0. A great pitchers duel which included several awesome defensive plays by both teams.
Many thanks to all of the players, coaches and families who came out and participated in this exciting event.

Holly Springs ended up the #1 seed and faces EC Longhorns Sunday morning. GA Grip defeated HP CD Black in the first bracket game Saturday night and will play the winner of the Holly Springs/Longhorns game. Kennesaw and 643 are in the other half of the bracket and could face off in the semifinals. |
