The only thing that is up to the discression of the TD is the number of pools and pool games they want to offer. |

So assume it like this.
Team A has 12 points Team B has 11 Team C has 10 Team D has 9 Team E has 8 Team F has 7 Team G has 6 Team H has 5 Team I has 4 Team J has 3 Team K has 2 Team L has 1
Pool A would have Team A Team F Team G Team L
Pool B would have Team B Team E Team H Team K
Pool C would have Team C Team D Team I Team J
What happens if you have teams of different classes in the same tournament? How is it suppose to work then? Can a AAA team with more USSSA points get preferred seeding over a majors team?
No...
I think you are right in theory, but history proves that it is left up to the TD. Some TD's will seed the highest A team below the lowest AA team.....but others will mix them up and simply use points (it is happening in the World Series that we are playing in right this minute). USSSA tournaments plainly state "The exact format (i.e.; number of pools, quantity of teams in each pool, etc.), will be set by the Tournament Director following USSSA Baseball Guidelines." but I am not sure what those guidelines say.
Now, on the other hand, every time I have ever had questions about the pools I have been able to ask the TD and he has ALWAYS had an answer that was legitimate...even if I didn't agree with it, I could see how he arrived at those pools.
But this is just my $.02

Posted - 06/28/2011 : 08:26:03 I understand that the the USSSA points are used, I just cant figure out the formula.
1st in points 1st seed pool A 2nd in points 1st seed pool B 3rd in points 2nd seed pool A 4th 2nd B 5th 3rd A
and so on, is this the way it is supposed to be? |

Posted - 06/28/2011 : 03:47:32 It should be based on teams Usssa points. Even though thats what it states in Usssa guidelines that is not always the case.
