From the AJC article on Georgia kids drafted last night:
National baseball analysts praised the state talent pool. Said MLB.com's Peter Gammons, "Georgia is, per capita, the best baseball state in the country."
Good stuff. |

Baseball scouts love Georgia. Said MLB.com’s Peter Gammons: “Georgia is, per capita, the best baseball state in the country [for high school talent].” MLB.com’s Harold Reynolds said East Cobb had the “best summer program in the country.
Perception is everything in making projections, which is what a draft is all about. Five Georgians in the 1st round is a good indicator of how the state and particularly ECB, which, let's face it, stirs the Peach State punch, is regarded. I can't imagine Georgia baseball at the top, nationally speaking at least, without ECB's huge contribution. Harold Reynolds's comments deserve as much notice as Peter Gammons's. |
