How was everyone's Tournaments ran this weekend?
Here is how ours went We played in the USSSA Hidden Valley tournament. I will tell you that Elite Sporting Event put on a quality event. The umpires were very good. The fields were in great shape. Game times stayed very close to schedule even with some extra inning games.I talked to several teams hear and everyone agreed that Elite Sporting Events put on a great tournament. Good job to Bubba and his staff! |

The USTBA February Frost @ Harrison Park was terrific, as always. Great job by Charlie and the Sandy Plains guys this weekend. Looking forward to the Stars and Stripes in May!! |

Great job by the Sandy Plains folks and the weather was beautiful. I do hope that all involved will at least look into not splitting the tournament when under 8 teams are entered. The unpleasant experience was playing a championship bracket with only 3 teams and then getting a bye and ending up winning that the silver bracket playing only 3 games. First tournament that I have ever won playing 3 games. |

I went to the Sandy Plains event, and some games were running well behind, but not sure how that can be avoided. Its baseball.
The staff seemed to be doing backflips to prepare the fields before each game. The restrooms were very clean. Easy entry and exit to the parking area and the playing areas. I go to a lot of tourneys/venues, and this park/group of organizers earned an "A". Well done! The hoops season prevented us from playing, but it seemed to me that a good time was being had by all. |

I agree with papa on all accounts. Great job, Sandy Plains. I hope you'll host more tournaments. The venue is nice, and the people were great. |

Thank you for all of the kind comments, from this past weekend. We run travel teams, so we try and incorporate our likes, dislikes, and listen to you guys as well on improvement suggestions. On the one bracket scenario... typically in USTBA formatted tournaments if the number of teams in an age group is less than 7 teams, there is only one bracket. 7 teams we have split 4 and 3, and if 8 4 and 4. 12, obviously 4, 4, 4. The whole concept is to try and give everyone on Sunday a chance to win a championship, but also try and give them comparable competition. However, I can see both sides of the coin, so thanks for the feedback. I will ensure we discuss it with Paul for future tournaments. I hope you guys will come back for the Stars and Stripes... what's your opinion on making that a wood bat tournament? We have a potential wood bat mfg that wants to sponsor that tournament, so we are tossing around the merits of doing it or not.... Thoughts?

Stars and Stripes tournament would be great to be wood bat. For 11 and 12 would be perfect. I would probably not mess with 9 and 10 though. The 12's would really be an improvement with the fence at SP. |
