When searching for tournaments on the Utrip site some directors list teams and most don't. Listing teams is a great time saver for coaches to look at and to see who is coming. Any thoughts on this?
Its just more evidence on how newer sanctions are dealing with customer needs better than USSSA is. I mean why would you sign up for any tournament without knowing who was also signed up for the tourney.
What tourney are you looking at? slugfest has teams listed and all nit and state events will. It is better than these guys touting teams that have no intention of coming so they can intice others to come.
It depends on whether you are talking about the TD's website or USSSA's website. USSSA typically only lists teams that have paid, which is shown when a team completes on-line registration.
A lot of times TD's create their own and list tournament details, along with the list of teams.
Alter/jaguars Your right, most USSSA directors only list paid teams on the USSSA site but all have there on web-site that will show all teams. I myself am trying something different this year and listing "commited" teams on both sites. I caution all of our directors not to list teams that are not coming. At the same time i wish teams wouldn't commit to tournaments and then not stand by there world. This brings up a whole new topic!!!
I know we can go on Eteamz to find tournaments, then navigate to the website of the TD and then see who is coming, if they post them at all some don't.(deep breath) Then go to USSSA to look at the teams, because this is were you can get some pretty good info. But if they were listed on Utrip it would be so much faster to look at the teams all from one site. I know some teams bow out of tourney's at the last minute, I think if you call them and say your coming to me that's a commitment.
I think that the committment thing works both ways. I have been told that the reason some Coaches enter multiple tournaments is that they have entered tournaments expecting to play. Around Thursday night or sometimes even Friday morning the director calls and informs them that only 3-4 teams are entered and that he is cancelling the tournament. This leaves the team without a place to play so some Coaches decided, hey I will enter 2 tournaments and if one doesn't make then I will have a place in the other. Now what happens is when both make they must make a choice and one tournament director gets the shaft. Neither way is right and someone needs to put some thought and some must share some wisdom on how this problem can be fixed.
Stan has created a thread so that teams can list the tourneys that they will be attending. Hasn't really caught on yet. Would be a great source of info if teams would start using it.
