Can a 12yr old kid or any age kid be on a teams's roster for his age as well as on a roster for a team 1 yr older? EX: 12yr old on 12u team roster. Same 12yr old on a 13U roster. Is it ok? |

Yes. The only time there is a restriction is USSSA does not allow a player to play on 2 teams in the same tournament, even in different age groups. (i.e. cannot play on the 12U team and the 13U team in the same tournament).
I have seen some tournaments allow a 13U player to go up and play a game or two with a 14U team if they get short during a tournament.
This is very common in FLA and CA. Makes interpreting a USSSA roster history tough. |

It depends. For USSSA, there are unique rules based on classification of team as well (i.e., AA, AAA, Major). Normally, it is ok for most organizations, but you have to be careful. I know that in almost every case, you can only play for one team in a single tourney on any given weekend, regardless of age level. |

we go thru this each year...with usssa you can be on as many rosters as you like as long as they are not frozen and as long as your age fits. You can not play in same tournaments with more than one team and in the case that a director will allow you to do it you can not pitch for both |

Knowing when a team becomes frozen has eluded me. USSSA claims it can be seen on their web site, but w/o a usssa tourney director pass code, I have not been able to see it. I was told it appears in yellow, but I have never seen the color yellow anywhere on the usssa sites. Am I missing something? Nearly all usssa tourneys are qualifiers, and you don't have to win to qualify. Seems like if you win 1 bracket game you qualify. Be careful from Jan 1st on who you fill in for and what each org's rules are.

Sorry i'm slow...but Shut Out answered yes w/ no extra stuff. So the bottom line is: a 12 yr old player can be on a 12U team roster and a 13U roster at the same time ALL year, right? |

OK...Rule 3.08 reads "Players participating in multiple age divisions shall not be permitted to participate on any team below the classification of the oldest team in which they participate on." It sounds like rules 3.07 and rule 3.08 contradict themselves. 3.07 allows it but 3.08 says he can only participate in the "oldest" team. ?!%*%#$*? |

Scott0923: Let me use an example to make it easier to understand:
If a boy plays on the 13U Tigers who are a Major team, than he can only play for a 12U Major team, and not a 12u AAA or AA team.
If his 13U team is AAA, then he can only play for a 12U AAA or Major teams not AA.
If his 13U team is a AA team, then he can only play for 12U AA team.

3.07 is pertaining to a individual tournament not a season, you can play on more than one team at different levels throughout the season just not the same tourney
3.07 A player shall be permitted to participate on multiple teams but only one (1) team per age division, regardless of classification and only one (1) team per day, event, tournament, week or weekend.
Rule 3.11 Comment: A player may legally appear on multiple Official Online Rosters in the same age division regardless of classification(s) until such time one of the rosters the player appears on in the age division becomes frozen. |
