...when a batter takes a called third strike then when they are in the dugout will yell coachings "come on, swing the bat" or "protect the plate" when another batter doesn't swing at an obvious strike.

Boys will be boys. Thats the job of the coach to stop. Even the pros take called third strikes, i may have done it a time or two

A good coach would ask a question,"What did you see?" Younger boys are usually guessing at what pitch is coming next, or the umpires strike zone is a little wide. If you ask a question, you usually get an honest answer. For older boys, they get fooled by a pitch, meaning they really weren't ready, or again the zone is a little wider than normal. We have all taken one like that.

It drives me nuts when kids try to do the coaching. When they have mastered a certain area then they can do the coaching, and no 9,10,11,12 have mastered any area of baseball. They hear coaches teaching and saying something and they throw it out there, bugs me to death. I don't mind cheering for your team mates but correcting them or trying to be the coach is a pet peeve of mine.
