I just found out my son's high school "may not" have a Spring 2017 team. Are there any alternatives out there for high school students in this predicament? He's already on a travel team and just finished his Summer season of 25 games with: .347 BA, .472 OBP, .500 SLP, 14 RBIs, scored 25 times and 28 stolen bases. He's a lefty and he plays mostly in the OF but can also play 1st and pitch. |

Can always participate in a home school team (i.e. Gwinnett Barons or ECB Academy team).
My son was in a similar situation 2 summers ago. Our HS had 3 coaches in the last four years. After the coach was let go my sons freshman year the AD told the kids that IF a coach was not hired there would not be a team. The coaching search continued late into the summer.
My sons summer coach at the time (also a long time HS coach) told us that IF a program was not offered at my sons HS he could play at a neighboring HS. If I recall correctly this was different than a hardship transfer. We never had to really dig into the rules since they hired a coach b4 the next school year. I'd suggest connecting with the Dugout Club president, or the HS AD, they would probably have the best info on the coaching search.
Good luck! |

Maybe consider transfering? There are other schools that provide a good education and have a baseball program you can count on being there. |

The East Cobb Saints will be holding tryouts for the upcoming spring season on August 27th. Formerly known as the Johnson Ferry Saints, is an elite high school academy baseball program that plays out of the beautiful East Cobb Baseball Complex. This program is for players from 9th to 12th grade who are looking for a competitive alternative to High School baseball. In the past two years the Saints have posted a record of 72 wins and 12 losses, including a 1st place finish in the Vision Sports World Series, a 3rd place finish in the HWSA World Series, and a second place finish in the NACA World Series. Tryouts for this prestigious program are invitation only. Players or parents can call 404-276-1657 to receive more information and an invitation. |

Thanks for all the info. He's a Senior, so transferring to another school is not an option. I contacted GHSA directly and was told a student can only play at the school where he/she is enrolled full time. I looked at the alternative schools mentioned above and in 2016, those programs played a lot of out of state tournaments during the school year so I know that will not work for us. |

Thanks for the info. I've familiar with your program because a couple of my son's former teammates were on this team. You'll had an awesome Spring 2016 season however, you'll played in a lot of out of state tournaments during the time my son's school was in session. So, I know this isn't a good fit for us. Thanks again |

Regarding East Cobb Saints -- only 1 out of town tourney (NACA World Series in Dayton, TN). We had 3 kids that chose not to make the trip due to school schedule. Played a couple of out-of-town (Montgomery, Huntsville) double-headers on Saturday, which are day trips. Even played in Perfect Game Spring Swing tournament which is in our back yard. Please call at your convenience. 404-276-1657 |
