Notice the height and position of the prospects of the 2016 MLB draft.
Seems like 6'4" is the average. I understand a lot of pitchers being there. Teams can not have enough arms.

Groome, Pint and Puk are in the wrong order in my opinion....guess we will see.
The average height of a MLB player does seem to be on the rise...but the reporting of your height with your cleats on is also on the rise :- ) |

| There's not a definitive top talent in this draft class. I think Groome and Pint have more upside than Puk. Pint has been rising steadily over the last month. |

And Groome was in a tough spot....you have to be "out there" and being seen or people forget about you....BUT....if your body is use to having a shut down period and you did not provide one this year...yeah, he looks like he is running out of gas, and who could blame the kid. |

Every year these guys get taller and bigger. Must be the steroids in the food! :-)
I think Pint has more upside, but how long can he keep throwing 100mph without other pitches is a concern. Then again pitching triple digits is impressive. I do like Kyle Lewis. As a former outfielder I like most of the outfielders in this class. Georgia produces some of the best OF.
I see that PR has another 6'4" SS in Delvin Perez. It's just crazy to think of a SS that is OF size. That's what happens when your high school is a true baseball academy I guess |

Delvin Perez failed his drug test, his stock just went down about a zillion percent. He will be lucky to go in the 4th round now, darn shame, the kid was likely a top 5. |

| I think somebody said it elsewhere on the forum recently, it seems like the better teams have bigger kids. Becomes more apparent in the 12U-14U ages. |

The fact that the Perez people are screaming about some nose spray or vitamin that they just didn't know would cause an issue leads me to believe this was intentional, and that is likely to turn off clubs big time, especially with the latest "strong stance" MLB is trying to take on PED abuse. |

| PED's are more that just steroids now. They are everywhere now and young players are taking them to get any edge they can. Not too many in the MLB can honestly say they have never taken any PED's during their entire baseball career. That's nothing new. Like a friend of mines who is an investment banker said, "It's not about doing it, it's about not getting caught doing it". |

Some kids have that early growth spurt at 9u/10u and some grow late. The kid who is 5ft at 10u has the advantage for now, until other kids grown past him as they get older. One kid I was training grew over a foot one summer. Went from 4'7" to 5'7" in just a few months and is now the tallest kid on the team. Genetics, Environment and Health play a big part in growth. |

| Unfortunately in today's sports world winning trumps everything. Whether he used PEDs or not won't affect his draft position too much. Take a look at the NFL. The day of the draft a video comes out of a star player smoking weed. Did he drop? Yeah. But not terribly far. While he certainly lost a lot of money, the team that was able to snatch him up 10 picks lower that he should have gone was certainly happy. And, I wouldn't say too much about the "strong stance" the MLB is taking. The 80 game suspension for a first time user is too low in my opinion. Look at Dee Gordon, has a career year and signs a long term deal. Gets paid. If he's clean, does he put up the numbers he did and get the long term deal? No one knows. But, some may look at it as they lose 80 games and the salary but it is worth it for a longer deal. |

Partly true. Money trumps everything and that was evident in the first two rounds last night. You didn't see the best player taken in order by need of teams. You saw a lot of strategy around signability (read both money and college) of players. Perez did have his selection order decline. It wasn't nearly as much as would have been expected, but that's because the Cards get a bargain because of his now tarnished image. Two risks on the Cards part. How good is the kid without PED and will he stay clean from this point forward. Additional questions about character will always be raised with a known cheater, which is what this kid now is, now and forever.
In both the case of Tunsil and Perez, there selections ended up being about getting a bargain with the qualified risk. |

Seriously! GA kicked some major behind last night with NINE hometown boys picked!
Five OF's, one 3B, one SS (anyone who played walton knows why!), two RHP's!
A VERY impressive showing, the only state to have more was California at 12, but HELLO what a huge state! And my personal favorite, we tied with Florida  |
