I've seen several people here talk about using Buddy Heaters this spring (one in a personal tent). This past Saturday, during our double header, a parent's Buddy Heater went up in flames in the middle of a crowd. One of the guys near by grabbed it (at serious risk to himself) and dragged it away from the bleachers. Of course I have no idea how well it was maintained, etc. but it caused a serious event trying to get people away.

Also, make sure someone knows where a fire extinguisher is located. We don't often think about a fire extinguisher being necessary at a ball park. At least make sure the concession stand has one.

PSA over...

Are you sure it was not one of those scary hover boards everyone is losing their minds over?

I use it in my personal tent. It says repeatedly in the instructions to make sure the gas bottle is securely in place and to test it for a bit when you change out bottles, AND not to jostle the heater.

I'm not saying this incident didn't happen, I'm sure it did, but there is a phrase I have taught my children that likely applies here "Operator Error"

X2........I was wondering if the can(s) was/were tightened securely. If not there could be a small leak that would eventually ignite. I use mine in the garage and I carried it to another spot the other day and it went out.

Regardless, anytime you have a tank of gas and a flame, caution should always be used and there is always a chance for "Something" to happen........
