Strength & Agility Training:

Young players, now is the time to commit to a regular strength and agility program! I urge you to take advantage of any and all free time, and improve your strength & agility!

I evaluate young players for a living, but it's fairly easy to perform a self-assessment on your own (with the help of your parents). You must check your ego at the door and not be in a defensive mood when being evaluated. This is a serious component of your game and it's often overlooked.

In baseball, we are on an island, and we must learn to be honest with ourselves as players. We know if our footwork needs improvement; we know if our hand & wrist strength could use a boost; we absolutely know if our stamina is not up to a suitable standard; and we truly know if our diet/meal plan needs revamping. ***The diet and meal plan is a hidden gem (it can energize us or it can stagnate our growth as athletes*** I will touch on this in a future post.

The best route to address the above issues will be to choose a quality professional in your area. The instructor will motivate you and properly guide you through your training.

If private lessons aren't currently in your budget (please begin saving), the next option should be YouTube. We are in the era of YouTube, InstaGram (IG), and Twitter. Do some research and simply begin following "REPUTABLE" online trainers. The bottom line is that you must improve your overall strength & agility in order to properly perform necessary baseball actions at a high level. Your body must be able to do what your mind tells it and this must occur during a fatigued state.

Let's commit to becoming the best athlete that we can be. Don't wait. Find a trainer; ask your travel coach for suggestions; and perform your own research.

Have fun guys!

Thank you very much! I tend to brainstorm a great deal during the off-season. I'll post topics as they come to mind.
