In reference to the post below regarding the CBL, I am interested in setting up a "league" of major and high AAA teams that would play doubleheaders on Sat and Sun and possibly weekday games as well. Having created the budget for the Colt 45's and having heard the budgets for some other teams, there has to be a way to trim some tourney costs during the budget busting Cooperstown season. The point of these games would NOT be to eliminate tournament play altogether. However, instead of playing 3-4 tournaments a month, teams could play 2-3 and trim a few thousand dollars off their costs for the season. If teams have field time or a dedicated field, the only cost is umpires which can be split by the teams. The other advantage is the opportunity to develop players in additional roles as well as the back end of your rotations without the tournament pressure of win or go home.
