How many of the "Elite" 12/13 U players that are not currently playing at EC (bombers, Vipers, Bulldog, Crush etc) are going to EC in 2009???? |

I only know of 2 off the Bombers going to the EC Astros, I don't know of anyone from Bulldogs, Crush, or Vipers moving to EC! The 13U EC Astro team is pretty much set from what I hear, the tryouts are just a formality! |

Yeah, I don't....It's kinda like a soap opera, "As the roster's turn, These are the Days of our lives!" Never a dull moment. |

Is it just me or does it seem the fragrance is off the rose? The top teams from last year (Vipers, Bulldogs, Crush, Bombers) appear to have made few but strategic pickups that will only make them better. The top talent in the area no longer feels like that is only one place (ECB) to play top level baseball. I would expect the top three teams in the area to come from the above four. |

saline, While I fully believe the teams you listed above will be some of the top teams around again next year, there is no doubt to anyone that watched the tryouts that the 13U Astros will be even stronger than the past #1 team coming out of EC for this rising age group. With 3 or 4 players that played 13U last year coming to play, I think everyone is going to be surprised at how this team stacks up. |

well the Vipers dont change their players.
i dont know the Bulldog much about their workings but the Bombers defenite will be looking for a number of players . with that in mind once the season is started only then we will see and know , Saline. |

too bad, mamabee.
I guess you and the other parents believe that this coaching staff has what it takes to teach your kids how to play the game the way the high school and college coaches want them to play the game.
Successful teams blow themselves up every 2 years or so, so that the players really do have a chance to grow. |

Dr,
Even if the Vipers lose one or two and add one or two they will certainly still be strong. |

Inga, There is not doubt about that. They will definately be a contender in GA and nationally.
It will be fun to see all the teams and players transition to the next size field. 54/80 will change some players games. Any teams trying to go up and play 60/90 will definately be in for a change. |

You know year after year these same teams with the same players always end up being the top teams in Ga! Instead of blowing themselves up, they keep blowing the competition up,Wow! Somebody better enlighten the coaching staff of these teams as to what it takes to be successful! Oh yeah, forgot to mention not only successful in Ga, but also nationally, check out the latest TBS rankings on how these same teams, with the same players are doing. But then again I'm sure that nobody would want these talented kids because they have always played together and have not had a chance to grow!!! Congratulations to all these teams! |

QGJ,
Don't know what team you are talking about that is/has been so prolific "blowing up their team every two years"..... I have been around for a while and never heard about THAT team....The successful teams are those that have shown stability and have some chemistry. I do agree that the top teams make adjustments every year but rarely more than a couple of players. I still say that is no longer a given that the best teams in an age group wear ECB colors.... They did not at 12U nor 13U last year and they likely will not again this year. This is not trashing ECB. But rather demonstrating how strong baseball has become in this area....and for the record, my son plays at ECB. |

Saline, if the top 13 or so from the 13s tryout are on the same team, I cant imagine any team around here being as strong as they are. |

I can't imagine the "top" 13 or so being on the same team. You play an average of 7 games per tournament (assuming you are in the championship) and 7 innings per game (assuming you run rule no one). 49 inning with 9 positions on the field. If my math is correct, if all players play the same amount of time, each player will be on the field around 4 innings per game or 28 of the 49 innings played in the tournament. |

Well there may be 1 or 2 out of the "Top" 16 that arent picked or decide to play elsewhere. But when the roster comes out we can all do our own evaluation. |

The players will be practicing together side by side and playing games together. When they were on seperate teams its tough to compare talent levels. Im guessing they ALL wont be playing full time. The cream will rise to the top. Im assuming they will all be fighting for playing time. Or if they prove to be pretty similar a rotation may be put in place. All I know is it is going to be fun to watch. and yes im aware that im guessing and assuming...... |

Love,
Believe me...the top 13 players in this area ARE NOT on the same team...They are not even on the same two or three team....and certainly not all on the Astro's....You got the best players from the VIPERS are still VIPERS.....you got the best of the BULLDOGS are still BULLDOGS.....You still got great players on the Crush...on the Bombers.....Hobgood Heat, Roswell Hornets, Etc.....and the main thing is who is making the determination about which are the best? At best, you can only comment about the best players that showed up for the try out... and that is either based on this past season or one weekend. |

Sal, i didnt say in the area, I said at the tryout. You have select players on the teams you mentioned, youll have 13-15 top notch kids on the Astros. Trust me I know a bunch of "Astro Type" players on other teams. Im from Pennsylvania, this area is LOADED with talented youth baseball players. |

I do beleive that from those first 4 teams you say , vipers bombers crush bulldogs , each had several very good players who didnt show for the ECB tryouts.
So you cant get the best of the best anyway when that happens. |
