A team has offered my son a spot is it ok to ask the coach who has committed or who the core kids are. This is a new team with no previous history.

I'd ask a lot more than that for a first year team.

I would not mind that question at all.

Yes. And realize that he may tell you some kids are committed who are still on the fence.

I think it would be OK to ask, but don't be surprised if the coach doesn't want to give out too much information and decide what you will do if you're not satisfied with the answer.

Does the coach have any previous history?

Absolutely. You should know who your son (and your family) are going to be spending the next year with.

Additionally you want to understand the skill set of the group. That may not be a big deal depending on the age group or the focus of the team (development vs. highly competitive) but you definitely have the right to ask.

Seems reasonable. Either ask their names and backgrounds, or ask to workout with the entire team.
