The Long Island Express proved how hard it was to actually make it to the championship by getting elimiated in the sweet 16. They had 7 of the 14 players on the team that played against us in the Championship game in week 4, as the NY Outlaws.

Good luck to Coach Smith and the Beaver Valley Red team. We got the opportunity to play them in a DH, on a 200' field, on our way up to Cooperstown. Same pitchers, same players, different results ;-) . The Bombers and Vipers will get the chance to see them in Orlando in a few weeks. |

I think every week brings a different and equally challenging level of competition. I think it is hard to argue that one week ends up harder than the other without comparing all the teams. Every week has a different set of teams that are not known by name, but show up and play strong. Many borrow players or combine teams to take their best shot.
Regardless, the southern teams have definately shown where the stronger competition comes from (not taking anything away from Beaver Valley Red who won this week) and should be proud of the showing. Great work to all the GA teams that have been up there so far and good luck to any that are still headed up there. |

Greg,
Week 5 had three of the top six TBS ranked teams, four of the top 17 & two honorable mentions as well as there being six teams who are in the top 31 as far as USSSA power rankings (1,9,13,14,25 & 31).
I'd say that makes it rather easy to compare weeks.
I think we can all agree it doesn't matter who the bottom 80 are as none of them really have much of a shot at winning any week.

Clearly Week 4 was the toughest. ;)
Seriously, my son is STILL tallking about how much fun that was. We talk as much about the time in the barracks and the Opening and Closing ceremonies as the baseball.
Only three teams from GA this week, none of whom I'm familiar with. |

Southern Boyz from GA are extremely good. Just ask Team Rawlings. The only reason Team Rawlings is going to the Elite 24 is because after the Southern Boyz beat Team Rawlings in the finals of the ASP Super NIT, they declined the berth thus giving it to Team Rawlings. Other good teams Thibadeaux Terror, Proelific Power. I am sure there are others -this is what I see at a glance without in depth study. JMHO |
