I am new to this message board. But I have noticed that there is a bit of tension between parents/coaches/fans of the north vs the south. It seems as though teams like the Yard Dogs, Gamers, Wolf Pack...southern teams, dominant from ages 5-8. 9-12 there is parity and from 13 on up it use to be EC primarily, until the the Atlanta Angels started putting up some impressive #'s against all teams. I know many players travel to EC when they get older and many of the players from the southern teams focus on football and basketball at those ages. But could you imagine if the players from the south stayed south? If an organization could keep the game interesting to those kids...wow. Fact of the matter is until 8 the game is quick, fun, fast paced. After that, games go from an hour and 15 minutes to 2 and a 1/2 - 3 hour's. Then, because EC specializes in bb, kids migrate to the north for competition purposes (select teams). High School ball is different. Milton, Cartersville and Pope represented well for northern bb. ELCA, Redan, Charlton Co. won titles as well in their respective classes. Lovett being in Atlanta would be 4 titles Atlanta down and 3 titles to the northern towns. It's baseball. A game. As parents of these kids from 5-18, we want them to excel more than they want it. A good parent anyway. Just like our Father in heaven wants our best interest more than we could ever. Let's just enjoy the kids. |
