My 11 y/o (soon to be 12) has "blossomed" somewhat in the last couple of months and is now finding youth XL pants too tight. Based on his waist size, he now needs an adult medium.

He's very rough on pants. Where is a good source for inexpensive pants for practice? The local stores are ~$30/pr.

Baseballsavings.com
ebay

If they're for practice, then piping color, etc., aren't important, so great deals can be found, particularly at Baseball Savings. They currently have white Russell Adult Mediums for $9.98 with either black or navy piping. Lots of deals and closeouts can be found there.

My son wears Mizuno pants, they come in Youth XL, XXL, XXXL, he is about a men's medium, but the XXXL youth size fits him well without being way too long and he is 5'9", Mizuno also makes a relaxed fit pant which tends to be much roomier for those that prefer that. His Mizunos tend to hold up to the beating he gives them.

You have got to love a baseball mom of 6. If I was her I would just use the hand me downs system. But that's just the way Papa rolls.

Papa, thanks, but I don't have 6 kids, my son wears #6 on his back. :-) He is the oldest of my 2 kids, and his sister who plays softball gets ALL the hand me downs, including the outgrown catcher's gear. My point was more that a men's medium pant tends to be super long, and Mizuno makes extended youth sizes that fit the bigger kids better. I shop clearance racks for practice pants. Elite Sports in Marietta, a page sponsor often has a clearance bin as does Better Baseball.

If you are near an academy sports, they have basic rawlings pants for $20 adult Medium. We also used these at Cooperstown.

Found some Wilson Youth XLs that were cut pretty large at Hibbett's for $15. Didn't even have to be shortened! Unfortunately, they only had that one pair.

Since he goes through a couple of pair every season, I'll keep looking. I stopped by PIAS nd they had one pair that looked like someone had ripped through the bottom with spikes, and still wanted $10. I'll go by Academy one afternoon on the way home from work.
