It interest me quite a bit as to how some of these teams out there get these big time sponsors, ie Team Rawlings, Team Reebok, Team Easton etc... I can understand showcase teams that are hitting the circuit all over putting that sponsors name out there, but please tell me how these local teams (especially the MUCH younger teams) are strolling around the parks with these Big Time sponsors who probably at best are less than average teams?????
I guess if you hit the right company at the right time, you can get any sponsor out there that will foot some of your bill....
Just curious..... |

Are they getting "big time" sponsorship money? Just because a team is adopting a name, it doesn't mean that they're getting a whole lot.
I recall that Team Wilson got some uniform items sponsored and was given discounts toward other Wilson equipment, but they weren't getting their entire bill covered.
Many of these "sponsorship's" are based on who you know. Sometimes a former MLB player will become a youth coach at a park and leverage their relationships with the manufacturer (who may have sponsored the player as a pro) to fund something in return for using the sponsors name.
ECB has their sponsorship's tied to the park and force the teams to use certain items. I believe 643 also does this. |

I think the Team Wilson name is all but gone, but that was a deal between Wilson and Hobgood Park. The "A" travel team in each age group out of Hobgood could get the name and package. It was basically $500 per player and that included the complete uniforms, bat bag, Demarini bat for each kid and team catcher's gear with A2000 mit. All in all, it wasn't bad, probably Wilson's costs or so. The A2000 was great except the kids's couldn't use until the following year since they couldn't even squeeze it! |

For what some are paying for shoes you can get two pair of cleats and better batting gloves on sale at Dick's or Hibbetts. |

It is called a team buy in. They pay money to be sponsored and get the equipment any team can do it. |
