We need some volunteers to help get the upcoming spring season organized. League play is an excellent way to have a schedule of games against a known group of teams with a consistent roster. Your players will take these games more serious than scrimmage games. If you plan on playing tournaments almost every weekend then league play is probably not for you. But if you are not going to play an intense tournament schedule then league play is a great player development option for your team.
How does it work? When a League Coordinator volunteers, we post on the web site that we are looking for league teams that fit a certain criteria. For instance, AA teams within traveling distance of West Cobb. The coordinator gets the teams to agree on the basic structure. This includes the number of games, review playing rules, start and end dates, etc. The teams work between themselves to create a schedule of games for the season. Once the schedule is complete, we put it on the web site and from that point on the league is administered by the coaches via the web site. The top finishers are recognized with unique awards at the end of the season.
A lot of you need something baseball related to do over the winter, so send me an email and we can get started.

Okay this has been posted for a couple of weeks and I have not received a single reply. We keep the costs down by using volunteers to do the initial organization. I do the season administration when you are busy playing baseball. This is a great way to go ahead and get some non-tournament games on the schedule for weekday or weekends off.
So how about some of you volunteering so that we can get leagues organized right after the first of the year.
Thanks. |

Stan
Is this something limited to the Greater Atlanta Area or could a league be formed up in the North Georgia area. |

League could be formed anywhere, as long as there are enough teams within a reasonable geographic area and playing level. |

Stan, are you looking for someone to help you out with coordinating things or are you looking for teams? I can help with the first and maybe the second.

History has proven itself that you have to have a coordinator within an age group for it to work well. Someone that the coaches know and see at tournaments, etc. I have had some teams that have told me they want to play a league format, but I need coordinators to get the leagues organized. We have so many teams today that the only environment they know is in-park or all tournament play. They want to hear from someone they know the benefits of spreading some league games out over the season as a way of having meaningful games outside of tournament ball. There are many teams that don't play tournaments every weekend and need a level of games above scrimmages. In league play they are playing a group of teams with a set roster. |
