I have a 17U 6'1" 185 player with a little power. 3 HR's in the fall so far...gap and single hitter also..his travel team swings wood. Anyway, I'm starting to look at his next BBCOR bat for next Spring. He likes the 2013 Demarini CF5 (imagine that...its $400). Anyway, the bat is VERY balanced...feels like a feather when held opposite a Voodoo or Rip-It (his previous bat of choice).

Here is my question. Typically, will a more balanced bat (less end load weight) result in less power? Or would the more balanced weight result in more bat speed (which results in the same power production)?

I'm also concerned that a lighter feeling bat might jack with his timing and make him early on everything. The kid has a short, compact, quick swing. He's a righty and I don't want to start seeing outside pitches ending up as grounders to 3B because he rolled over on it due to the light swing weight of the bat.

PLEASE HELP!!!
