It is too hot for baseball tryouts and work outs? Heat index is over 100 degrees. How concerned are you about working out kids in the worst heat of the day? Schools are canceling football practice and the pros have practices in the early morning or under the lights.

I know it is too hot for parents to be sitting in the stands :) Seriously, make sure your kid drinks plenty of water - the days before they go out to play. If they wait until they are thirsty on the field, it's too late, they are already dehydrated and drinking then will do little good. I think baseball is a little different than football. More chances to rest and get a drink. Less continuous physical activity. Yeah, it's hot, but if you hydrate before you get out there, it should be fine.

My son caught 3 games up in rabun county this past Sunday .95 degrees. He sat in the shade between innings with a frog tog in his head. If your giving them breaks and not abusing the kids physically, baseball workouts can be done. just be careful

Yes, it's too hot AND the air quality is horrible as well. Not worth it in my opinion.

Cobb and Cherokee county school have banned outdoor practice between noon and 6pm until this heat breaks. Make sure everyone stays hydrated.

We wait until 7:30 to go to the field and get as much done as possible. If we cannot make it to the field, we set up the swing away in the garage and pop the fan on for coolness (and grab a cool beverage out of the garage fridge). There are a ton of creative things you can do for fundamentals in a space the size of a garage for both hitting and fielding. I agree it is too hot.

A football practice where the kids are going at it hard with pads is night and day compared to a baseball game or workout.

Baseball is not like soccer. Both my kids play select soccer in a league of about thirty teams. We have had no problems. Just be smart. Soccer games are played at all times of the day with one important difference we are in shape. We are use to the heat. Baseball conditioning is a joke compared to soccer,football,lacross or cross country. Hydrate, stay out of the heat of the day if your not use to it, if you start to feel bad come off the field. The coaches should understand. You do a lot more standing than running in baseball.

We did not think to do that last Saturday and my son said he felt like puking. This time he started to hydrate yesterday for today's tryouts. It went well he felt good all afternoon.

We were at the 643 tryouts from 11am - 7pm. ECB tryouts are only half as long per day. Which is better. They stay focused better. Going anyway one of the best clincs around.

Once dehydrated, it will take two to three days to properly rehydrate. Unlike professional sports where they take you into a locker room and stick an IV in you, normal hyration takes a long time to take effect.

Rule of thumb, if you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated. Tea, soda and many sugar drinks make the problem that much worse.

Dehyration is a serious issue. It can damage your heart, kidneys and brain.
