| We were thinking of getting Boomba pants this year. Anyone used them, and how did they hold up? We used Mizuno last year and some wore out in the knees. Iron out may ahve helped with that also. What are some of the better youth pants out there?? |

| We have use dRawlings for 3 years now. They stand up to quite a pounding, and get the cleanest whe washed. Topic for another post: How do you get players pants clean... |

We go with the higher ounce fabric and reinforced knees. i.e. Mizuno is a 16 oz. fabric weight. We are starting with 3 pair of pants bc A: 13 year olds who are one size in January will be a different size in July and B: spreading the wear around will keep the knees intact a little longer. Maybe.
We had one kid last summer who ripped out a backside in a pair of Mizunos after about a month. I think they were too tight to begin with and he was ultra hard on them showing off by sliding across home plate even when not necessary. lol. |

| In all honesty, you're going to have a hard time finding anything for youth that beats the quality of Mizuno. Pound for pound, best fit and most durable. One suggestion you might consider is to get a sliding knee pad (ie fastpitch softball) to wear under the pants. One of my sons was notorious for putting all his weight on one knee when sliding and would blow out the one knee within one or two games of getting new pants. Got him a nike womens knee pad and fixed the problem since it reduced the friction between fabric. |

| I think pants are over rated as far as kind and color! When you are playing 75 to 100 games a year I feel it's best to just buy white pants. This way you never have to say which pair on which day, it's always white pants plus when they wear out you can buy white pants anywhere!!!!!!!!! |

We use Mizuno. the boys like the fit and the fabric is thicker. We are starting out with 2 pair but I know we will need to get another pair. Both boys are on base a lot and like to steal, so lots of sliding! I tried to talk our coach into plain white, but was out voted and so we have a stripe:( You're right about plain white being easy to replace.
For cleaning I use Fels Naptha soap in the laundry section at the grocery store. Can't stand the smell of iron out. Just rub it in and wash. It gets out almost anything. |

Re: the cleaning - a good soak in oxyclean does the trick. There was an OxyBoost spray that we used before the wash cycle last couple years, but I haven't been able to find it this year...and I never put the pants in the dryer just in case something got missed...

No question- Mizuno is the best pant out there. Sorry you thought they wore out quicker but I bet if you were using another brand they would have worn out even faster. Stick with Mizuno. (No, I don't sell them).
Buy the pants, Scotch Guard them all over before you wear them the first time, after they get dirty scrub with Fels Naptha, wash with warm water, NEVER,EVER put them in the dryer (sets stains and wears out fabric faster), hang dry them, Scotch Guard again a couple times a season. Following this we had pants almost just as white at the end of the season as at the beginning. |

| Boombah Is a great pant and so is the Easton Quantum Pro, In our opininon last better than Mizuno, of course it depends on age of the Kid and all!! |

Fels Naptha (the soap that Grandma had in the basement) and NEVER put them in the dryer. I have heard of a cleaner that Home Depot sells that works well also.
Had bad experiences with Mizuno pants...will not ever buy them again. Wore through quickly...shrunk...not happy with them. |

Our team has worn Boombah pants for the past two seasons and never have any issues with them.....fading or tearing. We are about to place an order with them this week for this season.
We use Iron Out to help keep our pant clean. |

| We use Iron Out. Yes it does smell bad, but it works!! If you have a front loader and have to use a bucket or bath tub I wouldn't use it. For a regular top loader it's great. Start the water, HOT, out in the iron out, put in pants, let it agitate for a few minutes, close the lid and let sit over night(if you don't have that long just use the time you have) and HANG dry. NO DRYER! We have pants from years past that still are gleaming white, now they may have holes but they are white! |

Boombah is industrial strength. They don't wear out. But they are hot to wear in the summer.
Mizuno is next best. |

| Iron out is the best, no doubt. It even can take out old dirt stains that didn't come out in the washer many times before. It stinks but wow it sure works well. Mizuno pants for the money seem to have been the best pants and we've tried them all. |

| White Brite works great. Made by the same people that make Iron Out (probably even the same stuff). Put it in a bucket of hot water and let it soak then wash them. You could get away with not even washing them if you had to. I've even forgot about the pants and left them soaking and they will turn yellowish after a couple of days but it washes right out. You can get it at some grocery stores or Lowe's. |
