Coaches & Parents,
I know that I am not the first person to use or see this. I was at the Nashville Clinics and saw Game Changer there. This is a scoring/statistical app that is web-based. Using an iphone, ipad, or itouch (other OS coming soon). You can easily keep stats, spray charts and more. This is one of the best apps I've seen. It's Free.
I would recommend you get your teams using it.
I started the following groups: Georgia Travel Baseball 9U, www.gamechanger.io/g/georgiatb9U Georgia Travel Baseball 10U, www.gamechanger.io/g/georgiatb10U Georgia Travel Baseball 11U, www.gamechanger.io/g/georgiatb11U Georgia Travel Baseball 12U, www.gamechanger.io/g/georgiatb12U Georgia Travel Baseball 13U, www.gamechanger.io/g/georgiatb13U
If we can get several teams using this, then it will provide pitch count warnings, pitch count by pitches, batting average by count, quality ab’s, auto game recaps (article), standings, game results, and more. This would be a really easy way for all georgia baseball fans to follow what is going on during the tourneys (live).

If your team signs up, then shoot me your Team Name and age group. I have to add you to the group. georgiaselect@gmail.com.

I downloaded that app last fall and tried it using some games from the book. I would recommend it for its ease of use and attention to the eventualities that one may encounter in a game situation.
At the same time, I would also have a hard time not using the old fashion pen and paper... or having my scorekeeper use the old fashion pen and paper. What I may do, however, is use the old fashion pen and paper, then later transfer the book into the iPhone. I am a stats guy and have developed spreadsheets to compile these. The web interface with game changer does a lot of that work for you... and lets the parents of your team immediately see what's going on. |

We were like Coach Dan. We score over 80 games last summer using Gamechanger (My wife is a scout for Gamechanger) and we also kept an official scorebook. There are times you need to make changes to what you have posted in Gamechanger and it is hard to get the umps to stop the game long enough for you to make the changes.
Having the book allows you to catch the app back up. We had so many family members that were able to keep up with the play by play, especially when we were in Ft. Myers for a week, then to Orlando. Not every parent could go, but those that did not were able to keep up with what was going. It was fantastic.
We will be scoring another 60+ games with it this next summer. |
