In the past we have had successful Feeder Divisions in our league play. They set up slightly different rules concerning eligibility and had competitive leagues. One of the keys to success of feeder teams is to have other feeder teams to play. Give serious thought to forming feeder divisions in the NWBA league.

The entire Gwinnett County "travel ball" system is set up as a feeder system program. Go to GGBL's (Greater Gwinnett Baseball League) website to see a whole league of 100+ "travel" teams and contact info.
Anywhere there's a High School in Gwinnett, there's a cluster team at your age group (9U-14U) to compete against. Due to the geographic limitations, most are AA or AAA. You might find a few A's and a few Major's, but they are scarce.
My son has played in the North Gwinnett, Buford, and Mill Creek clusters, and all have competitive cluster programs. Generally speaking, the larger the cluster, the stronger the teams.
Most are AAAAA sized High Schools, and have 4,000+ kids feeding the High School, but not all. Buford is AA for instance, but always does well for their size.
If anyone would like help navigating GGBL to find a suitable opponent for a scrimmage, reach me off line.
Not many are active for Fall, but I know 5 or so are in the 12U age group.

| We played a few home and homes last year with couple of their teams. Would love to set up a Cobb-Gwinnett Challenge (or Gwinnett-Cobb if you will) Tournament in the Early Spring. |

| GGBL is not a feeder league. there are a few feeder teams that play in the league. But it is mostly travel teams that use the local Gwinnett county parks. But the kids can play on any team from any park. Feeder teams are kids that play in their school cluster with no outside players. |

The parks are in the school district. When you play the Collins Hill Eagles all it means is the that teams plays out of the park in that district. My son Played at Buford last year. We are in the Mnt. View district. Only two out of the 12 players we had on the team lived in the Buford school district. Some parks have a % rule. But then again the rules just say that the player has to have played at that PARK in the previous season. |

what percent of all GGBL'ers would you guess are playing in their home district? If a typical GGBL team has 11 players, on average how many of them are playing for the "home" cluster's team? Is your case where 2 of 12 or ~17% were home cluster boys common?

| In our age group, we had one team that was a true feeder team and one team that may have had 50% of the kids on the team that will attend that HS. Thats if they live in that district. I know that they have played out of that park for a few years. But GGBL does not require a player to play out of the park of the district he lives in. I know many players that live in Dekalb, Newton and Rockdale county's that play out of Shiloh and Lilburn parks. I'm all for feeder program starting at the 13U age group. I would love to see the GGBL start a feeder division. I know Mill Creek is moving to feeder teams. I would love to see other schools follow their lead. |

I agree that 13u is a great year to go 100% feeder if you can find a non-polarizing Coach (optimally, a non-father volunteer or paid Coach), and if you choose the right level of play.
Prior to that, I feel 100% feeder is too limiting and potentially confines players to situations that could restrict development.
Also, how does a AA feeder team stay on the field with a AAAAA team? Feeder teams need to seek out like-sized cluster opponents. I'll have to check out the feeder league to see how they handle that.

Allatoona Buccaneers feeder baseball program in Acworth is still looking for a few quality players to round out our 2012 roster. We will be having tryouts Wednesday 8/17 at 6:30 pm at Allatoona HS varsity baseball field for anyone in 7th or 8th grade who is still looking for an established, well run travel program coached by a tenured coach without a player on the team. You will also get exposure to the Allatoona Bucs varsity team and coaches who competed into the Elite 8 in the AAA Region 7 GHSA State Championship last year going 27-7.
We'll compete in the North Georgia Feeder Baseball League as well as play in open travel tournaments at the AA/AAA level for a total of approximately 60 games. We have excellent facilities with home games and practices held at Big Shanty Park in Kennesaw along with practices in the fall on the varsity baseball field at Allatoona.
