ANNOUNCING

Tryouts will be held on August 7th and 8th for two 14U travel teams that will practice and play out of Dunwoody Park. The Dunwoody Diablos will be filling select roster positions and a second team will be formed at the same time. The Diablos will play at the USSSA Major level and the second team will play AAA or Major.

The Diablos will be coached and managed by Danny Rueckel, former pitcher in the Washington Nationals AAA program. As a former professional and college player, Coach Rueckel brings a keen understanding for the game and how to instruct and motivate young players to do their best. In addition to his playing experience, Coach Rueckel has coached travel baseball for 2 years, including the current 14U Dunwoody Diablos. Coach Rueckel brings with him a team of carefully selected and highly experienced assistant coaches to work with the players to achieve the highest possible level of competitive baseball. There will be no dads involved in coaching either of these teams.

Tryouts will be at Dunwoody Park at 5321 Roberts Drive, Dunwoody, GA 30338. They will be held on August 7th from 9:00 to 11:00 and 8th from 1:00 to 3:00. Players are expected to attend both sessions. The tryouts will be rigorous workouts, so please come equipped with proper attire and drinks.

The teams will be formed immediately and a fall schedule will commence within weeks. The weekly schedule will work around the football player's schedule and will include practices during the week and some competition on weekends in the fall. There will be winter workouts in January and early February prior to the school season. The teams will be off from mid February until late April to allow players to participate in their school's baseball season. As soon as possible, the teams will resume practices and then begin a competitive schedule of weekend tournaments that lasts into July and finish up with a trip to a World Series in Panama City, Florida.

There is no fee to try out for this team.

No dad coaches. All coaches are paid and have significant playing and coaching experience.

We will be meeting with the parents at the conclusion of the first day of tryouts to answer questions about the team. In the mean time, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at peyost@bellsouth.net.

The 14U Diablos tryout will be a completely open tryout. The coaches are looking at every position on the field to improve upon last year's highly successful season.

The team will be under the direction of former pro - Danny Rueckel. Coach Rueckel was a 12th round pick and pitched in the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals organization for 7 years where he was a 2-time all-star. Since returning to Dunwoody, Coach Rueckel has been very involved with private lessons and coaching school and travel baseball teams. He is a DHS graduate and graduated from Furman University where he was a 4-year started as both a shortstop and pitcher prior to starting his pro career.

Remember, the time has been changed on the 7th to 10:00am at Dunwoody Park. See you there.
