Can they win yes...if their ace throws championship game. He is on par with 45's # 2 pitcher. The key to victory is the same for the 3 top teams. Throw off speed. Dead fast ball hitting teams usually struggle early with the junk.If I were a betting man I would say Bandits and 45's in low scoring game with 45's pitching depth prevailing.G A E R is top major seed and if they are healthy will be there at the end also.
Which Ace would the Bandits need to throw? Just wondering as they have got so many choices. We tried the 12's earlier and will be the first to admit that it is a much tougher world than the 11's with the kids being much stronger and throwing much harder than we are used to seeing. We had some pretty good success taking the Astros to the last inning before losing 2-0 and beating some really good teams like Stixx Baseball and the East Cobb White Sox and even taking the East Cobb Braves to the last inning losing on a walk off. It could happen but the line would definitely favor the major 12's. I can promise you that we will bring all that we can muster and that we will play hard the entire game.
No doubt they will play hard.Papa, ask Troy who he thinks his ace is. If you have him available at the end you will be competitive. Remember Slugfest....that can never happen again. Pitching depth is crucial.

643dad, Coach Troy will give you the same answer that Papa has. The best pitcher on our team changes from game to game and tournament to tournament. We are very fortunate to have so many solid pitchers.
Regarding the Slugfest, we had several injured pitchers at that time or pitchers that were limited because they were at a certain point in their recovery process.
One thing is for sure though, Troy will not let us go home early with innings left in the tank. Playing up with these great 12u teams is very challenging for any 11u team. We will be pushed hard this weekend.
Also, we will not be overlooking our pool play opponents this weekend. They all have the option of adding 12u players to their rosters !!
I know what Coach Troy would say and that would be that it depends on which one shows up. He does his pitching different than anyone that I have ever played for. There is no system in place. He warms them up and the one that is throwing the best gets the nod. Sometimes he doesn't know who he will throw until 2-3 minutes prior to game time. Keeps all of us on the edge of our seats. Pool play is only a minor part of the equation as if we advance we will eventually the 12U major and we know how tough that they can be. Congratulations to the Ga. Roadrunners for their runner-up finish in Cooperstown this past week.
Do the bandits throw cureve balls at age 11? What is your pitch count for a game/weekend...Have heard alot about your program and curious about your success.

We do not promote or throw curve balls at this age. We do throw the football pitch that is being thrown a lot and has been quite successful when thrown properly. Coach stresses changing speeds and hitting spots. You can't argue with success. I don't know the exact pitch count but would guess that it might be different for each pitcher but I do know that on our current stretch of great success that no pitcher has pitched more than 4 innings in any of the last few tournaments. Someone has suggested that our rash of arm injuries had something to do with them being overpitched but I am at almost every single game and can assure you that whoever made that statement was completely ignorant of the way our Coach protects these kids. We also promote a lot of long toss that I think is very important for developing arm strength.
EC1, none of the Bandits pitchers throw a traditional curve ball. All but one of them throws an offspeed pitch that the coach's son developed a couple of years ago. I've even taught this pitch to my 9 year old and he was able to throw it with amazing control in a short period of time.
643 dad wrong you are.those ga outlaws this weekend are maybe a 11u AA thanks for the upgrade we have 2 hurt 2 out of town and havent played or practice in 2 weeks because of this and that we were hoping to get in a average 11 tournament this is why i dont play the lottery.we are leaving with 8 gonna stop in calhoun at MAC D's check the playground for a big kid that can stand in the outfield and hold bat.Moms be on alert> no MAC D's around 12:30.
