Don’t look now, but the most storied franchise in youth baseball history is about to win it’s third consecutive championship!! It’s no wonder the other few so-called “major” teams dodged them this week by playing a tournament in some small South Georgia town, rather than coming to East Cobb, the Mecca of youth baseball. |

It seems the Astros lost by one run. Sometimes no matter how good you are you can’t beat the opposing team and the umps. There should be an investigation. |

DadTowns,
You will realize in the next few years that it is comical to beat your chest about baseball at this age. The top team at 17u is not the fabled Astros, not even close. What is also interesting, there is not 1 kid from the Astros 12u team from 5 years ago on the current team. Astros do well in these younger age groups because the kids have hit puberty earlier than others, but it all catches up and most of these stud 12yr olds are passed by due to development. I know you will not be able to see it now, but come back in 5 years and read this again and it will hit you what I am trying to explain to you. There will be some kid come out of nowhere(rec ball probably) throwing straight cheese, and the fabled 12u kids wont get past 80. But it's a hard thing to comprehend when your kid is the man at 12u. Enjoy that you have a stud team your kid plays for and I do hope he plays actually, and is not that dreaded 13th kid, because that will not help him either |

JMO, Your presumptions are humorous to me. You clearly don’t know who you’re talking to. |

I presume nothing, I state facts. The fact of the matter is that it is comical to beat your chest about 12u baseball. But, I do find it quite amusing. Better yet, I am sure at 14u if your kid found out that you were trash talking about his team, he would be ashamed and possibly ridiculed by his friends. Advice, stay humble my friend and take your kid to the park to work with him.

JMO is absolutely correct. Youth studs usually get passed by when it all catches up and individual stats will be all that matters. No one will care if X team won X tournament at 12u when scouts are looking. |

PG Final Travel Ball Rankings:
12u- EC Astros ranked #5.
13u- EC Astros ranked #2.
14u- EC Astros ranked #9, 1 Ga. team ranked higher.
15u- EC Astros ranked #8, Team Elite is #1.
16u- EC Astros ranked #7, 2 Ga. teams ranked higher.
17u- EC Astros ranked #7, 2 Ga. teams ranked higher.
18u- EC Astros ranked #1, the majority of the best players don't play at this age.
With the explosion of travel ball in Georgia, the Astros are not what they used to be. Too many teams and the talent is spread out; especially, starting at 14u.

Well, JMO, you will find out soon enough. The Northside Narwhals will be breaking our Spring training camp next week, and while we have no intention of playing any of the current so-called “major” teams in Georgia out of respect for the psychological well-being of the kids and their dads, we would welcome the opportunity to play an exhibition series against the best hand selected 12u AllStar überteam that can be assembled from the Georgia talent pool. In case you haven’t picked up on it yet, my comments on the Astros have been intended as a satirical jab at overzealous dads living vicariously through their children. HOWEVER, there is a team for the blessed few young men in this world with the talent, work-ethic, and relentless desire to play at the highest level. #NarwhalsNation |

I do have to admit that I had you mistaken for the Bus Driver of the Astros. Bro, you had me fooled. It was such a well written piece that I had to go read some of your earlier work. All I can say is:

The highest level on a 50x70 field...yeah sadly there are people who believe this. I believe it has been covered before that Narwhals are a fictitious team, but I've met some pretty over zealous parents over the years that absolutely believe that if there son is an 8u Astro his college future is set. |
