We're heading up there June 11th, anyone been there before? Org is Game Day. Thought it would be a fun end of season destination.

We have called and left messages and also emailed them multiple times to try to get in this tournament and have not gotten a response yet. Been trying for about two weeks. You have any tricks to get these guys to call you back

I guess the answer is Just Send Money! They don't list who's coming (which always raises my antenna), but instead sent a tentative list to coaches 2 weeks ago. The list does seem legit.

I don't like their style and I HATE Country music, so you know I'm taking one for the team on this one. I've learned to closely scrutinize tourneys you are driving a long ways to play in a lot more than local tourneys. One of our families had a good experience there last year, so I'm going with the flow.

I had better get the fastest go-cart..anyone have any scouting reports?

If the local cigar shop pipes in the twang, I might go postal.

As long as you don't see Burt Reynolds canoeing, you should be fine.

We have never dealt with this organization so GOOD LUCK! That being said PF can be a lot of fun for the kids but very crowded now that school is out.

Thanks all!
Fun is what we're looking for. I think the baseball takes a back seat for this trip. PaPa told me about the World's largest indoor water park up there. Our boys would love that.

Pigeon Forge is alot of fun for the kids. After our last experiance there, we will not go back for baseball. Worst run tourney I have ever been to. Field conditions were not acceptable, and no comunication. TD hid from everyone, he let the umpire collect any checks due. Not returning emails and calls seems to be status quo for this group. Fortunately the kids didn't notice as much as we did, and had fun.

Hi BMoser,

We went there last year at the same time. It was relly fun for the kids. We stayed at the hotel on the side of the mountain with a nice pool and 2-3 story slide coming in to it. The kids had a great time. We did not find the competition to be very good. We scored about 88 runs and gave up maybe 14. We run ruled the final game. Maybe it was just the year we went, but when you go there and win 29-2 going station to station and kids hitting opposit hand, it is not too fun. It is a nice little park. You can have a lunch along the river there. Of course Pigeon Forge and Gatlenburg is nice to see, but if the baseball is what we played, you could go to an all star tournament some place closer and get more competition.

Hope you all have a good time. Good Luck.

Thanks for the feedback all!

We got lucky with the competition. We have been able to verify that 1/2 the teams fall into the AA/AAA classification, and the other half might, but we cant find them on USSSA because USSSA isn't played in their State, or isn't popular there.

Due to the feedback we've received here, we've adjusted our expectations about the facilities and tourney management as being average to below average.

Our 9U team was planning on competing in that tournament, but very few 9u teams signed up. And once the coaches saw the rules that were going to be used, they decided not to go. For the 9U age group, they use more or less rec ball rules. No leading off the bases, no stealing until the ball is on its way to the plate, no pitching from the stretch, no advancing to first base on a dropped third strike and a few other things I can't remember right now.
I think it would have been a fun trip if it would have worked out. Maybe next year.

We play a lot of USSSA here but this organization is unknown to us - Game Day Baseball?? I don't know any of the teams that are listed as playing except Choo Choo City who is AAA or high AA. These other teams are completely unknown and look like A talent IMO. If you want the better tourneys then you need to go thru this site...

Good luck - hopefully kids will have fun. Pigeon Forge Park is fairly nice but Sevierville Park is a municipal park and not that good.

FRYDADDY:
Our games are at Pigeon Forge Park thankfully.

The list of teams has changed a bit. Next Level, NG Bulldogs Black, Warriors Baseball, TG Young Guns, and Creekview Jr Grizzlies, Choo Choo City Mustangs are all AA or AAA. That's 1/2 the field, so we'll get some good games.

Gotta pack the car!

bmoser, I think you will be disappointed in the fields. We just played in a tournament up there as a pick up player, memorial weekend, and the feild we played on was AWFUL! Honestly, the first base line looked like an ocean wave! It was so not level. Very hard for the kids to run, and then there is the fielding issue!

Good luck, and I hope it works out for you guys to the best!

So far so good at the tournament. The only issue we have, is only one umpire for the pool games. The fields are in good shape with some long fences (290ft) and the TD is on site.

Boys had a blast! The parents tried not to let the boys see our disappointment in Game Day USA and the City of Pigeon Forge Parks.

11U Warriors Baseball finished 2nd of 11 teams, losing 5-4 to the Choo Choo City Mustangs in a nail biter. The boys got a kick out of beating teams from Ohio, and Kentucky.

Now we know how the Bandits feel...we got labeled the team to beat after going 3-0 in pool, and earning the #1 seed. I think we saw every teams top pitchers in all 5 games. When a AA/AAA team puts a 65 mph flame thrower on the bump, they don't look so AA or AAA anymore. We saw that twice.

I think the 14U Titans from North Forsyth County won their age division, and several Georgia 11's did well.

Good job moser: Tell the boys that Papa is proud of their effort. Who won the big Go-Kart race and did you get to see the big Wilderness Indoor Water Park.

Thx Papa. I'll tell the boys that you said that.

The Go-karts were fun, and the smiles were so big, they had a tough time staying in their lanes. We had a great pool and lazy river at our condo complex, so never ventured out much otherwise.

Geez its tough playing so many games, facing their best pitchers, and driving home late Sunday. Before my son fell asleep in the car, I told him the Bandits are doing the same thing right now. He just said ...cool! That was the last word I heard out of him until the next morning.

Bmoser, Just wanted to say that you have a great group of kids and coaches. Dont know if you were the third base coach, but liked the way that man found the positive in every kid that step to the plate. Thanks for the great game.

Thanks BatChipper. The 3rd base Coach is our Head Coach and is the best Coach my son's ever had. He sets a mild mannered tone of mutual respect between the boys, coaches, parents, umps, and opponents. He's incapable of being negative, or raising his voice, and is fiercely competitive.

We had 5 great games up there, so I'm not sure which team you are with. Every game was close most of the way. The Championship game was close ALL the way until the last pitch. Most of the teams we played showed a lot of class and were gracious in victory and defeat. It was a great end-of-season event for us.
