If you have not been to Ripken(Myrtle Beach). Try it out. We went this weekend for the Memorial Day Weekend Tournament. The playing surfaces are all field-turf except the mound and batters box. All the fields are replicas shaped after old time major league parks. Crazy shaped fields but full of character. It lived up to every bit of the hype. The tournament sizes are smaller but high quality teams. North Carolina and South Carolina made up the field. We (Midway Dirty Dawgs) were the only team in 11U from Georgia. The beach was awesome and the boys had a blast.

Our boys went last year and we had a fantastic time as well. We loved the fields and the warm up facilities. There was a team from Australia there who wanted to trade shirts after the game. Ripken gives the boys a wristband everyday that allows free entry to the water-park or racetrack. Can't match the mystic of Cooperstown but hotel rooms are affordable and there are other things to do.
