I'm confused. If the Braves are the top team, how come teams are avoiding the Yard Dogs?? Looks like a great tourn. to me. I think the Braves and the Stealth in the SHIP. |

Too bad Yard dogs and Braves wouldnt square off early on in the bracket. Moccs have joined this tournament to test the waters for next year but will be without a few of our players . Stealth first game .. YIkes!! |

Should be an interesting tournament because you'll obviously want to finish as the #1 seed that way seeds 3 2 and #3 knock each other out before facing you. Question is, can the Yard Dogs or Stealth finish as the #1 seed? It's going to take a runs allowed of 2 or less to have a shot imho.

Of course the usual favorites would be the yard dogs- ec braves and Stealth.(no particular order).I like the fact that this is a double elimination because it may allow a team to lose a game and come back through the bracket to win.The pitching rules tend to favor those teams that play on Wednesday. |

I think it will really shake things up if Georgia Grays get number one seed.ECB Rays have the hardest draw IMHO. It should definitely come down to runs allowed. The way I read the bracket everyone wil make it to saturday but only top two or three to Sunday. Is this right? |

Looks like the first day of pool games were played last night, minor upset of the Rays beating the Yard Dogs 7-6. This makes it interesting now because you have think the Yard Dogs have a good shot at being the 4 or 5 seed which could put them on a course to meet the Braves in the Semi's. |

Moccs,
We got beat ..... simple as that ..... Rays were hungry last night and they played aggressive. It was a good wake up call for the Dogs ....... Parents, GRANDPARENTS, and Kids. Nobody is going to give US anything and we must play as a TEAM not individuals ..... We will bounce back ..... I still feel like we are one of the most difficult teams to beat in a double elimination tournament.......It might have made the road a lot more difficult for others and easier for us........The rest of the weekend will be interesting.
Error on 6 I know you want to make me eat my words and I am man enough to do so when called upon ...... but dont start feeling yourself to early pool play means nothing as a matter of fact I called that loss last night ....... had a gut feeling....... |

Well the moccs got a taste of Major baseball . Boy those Bomberz can really hit !! Where do they find those guys. Got a chance to watch a few other games and think that it will be a great finish. ECB Rays look really good and gave the Braves a scare. We were hoping to play several different teams but as luck would have it then we will probably play only three different teams the whole tournament because of seeding. |

Braves are rolling, Stealth and Yard Dogs have to play with the winner having to beat the Braves 2 games in a row. That ain't going to happen, great run so far. |

Tournament over for the Moccs. Have mixed feelings about our success. We didnt play as well as we could and was not helped by the last minute change in the bracket without warning. Park was great as well as the competition but for $525 per team you would expect better umpires.Maybe it was the HEAT! Looks like an exciting finish with the Grays-Braves-Stealth-Yard Dogs . |

That may not happen as you stated... I wish it would though.... Really pulling for the Yard Dawgs from Macon. Wish they could pull it off. Had a chance to mingle with their players a little while Friday night and the kids were well behaved and displayed wonderful manners. One of the kids offered to take our empty bottles to a trash can. Keep up the good work coaches.... |

Looks like the brackets have been updated and the Braves beat the Bomberz to win but the Bomberz did win the first game. Tough to beat the Braves 2 games in a row but sounds like they played em really tough. Congrats to both teams on a great run. |

I will recap as I have received several messages from coaches asking about the games and players health. Two fantastic games! In the first, Braves led the entire game and were up by one run in the bottom of the 6th with two men on and two outs. Braves best pitcher on the bump. On a 3-2 pitch, the smallest Bomber hits a 3 run walk off HR over the CF wall and they win by two. The workers at East Cobb said they could hear the roar at the house up on the hill. It was a very physical game - clean but both teams played hard with 3 collisions at home.
On one play in the 5th inning we lost our CF for the season and our catcher tore up his knee - not sure of status. Base hit to CF and our boy threw it home and his elbow tendon seperated from the bone - top 10 player in the state in cast and out for the season. Went to the hospital immediately, it was horrible. On the same play our catcher got his knee bent sideways but had to stay in the game and play another position as we were out of healthy kids. In game 2, I had no idea how the kids would handle losing a key player and a state championship that was one pitch away from being over. The kids sucked it up and the lead went back and forth the entire game. As luck would have it, we were up 2 runs again in the bottom of the 6th and the Bomberz had two boys on with two outs and the same kid that hit the walk off was up, facing the same pitcher as he did in game one. This time the kid hit a bullet to the 2nd baseman and it ended. Great weekend to all the teams and a very well played double header by both teams. The guy from Travel Baseball Select that watched both games was very impressed with the level of play in GA and will be doing a write up about the day. We always enjoy playing you guys! We will take a week off and try to heal our "MASH" unit. I know that none of my parents post on this board but often read it. You should be very, very proud of your boys.

Mike, we stayed around and saw game one and I guess I was more focused on the play at home that I didn't realize the kid in CF injured his arm. I hate to hear the news, and I know how a coach feels to have one of his boys in a cast. You and Derrick both do a great job with the kids. We enjoyed the week. Get as healthy as you guys can get, and we'll be routing for both teams down in Disney. I agree with the TBS guy. There is great baseball in GA. Good luck guys.

Mike -
Travel baseball is a small world, and NOBODY likes to hear of any kids getting hurt.
Please let the kids, and their families, know that LOTS of families will have them in their thoughts wishing them a speedy recovery. |

GAYD05,
Like I said in the beginning, you guys have a great baseball team, talented from top to bottom, but so does a lot of teams, not just you guys and from the looks of the scores this weekend, my theory is true. Not only did you guys lose 3 games to the EC Rays, EC Braves and Stealth Bombers but it looks like you had another tough game with the EC Stars in bracket play. With that being said, hopefully you realize now that there may be a couple "dodging and ducking" you but there are several out there that except any games, any time, any where, against anybody. Word on the street is you guys are going to Cincinnati in a few weeks, please go represent GA in a way that we can all be proud!
ecball, is the player that got injured one of your pitchers? |

Yes, they all pitch. However, he only pitched one inning at Triple Crown states and one inning this week but he is good one. |
