ALPHARETTA LEGION ANNOUNCES 1ST ANNUAL “FACES OF FREEDOM’’ WOOD BAT YOUTH BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

June 15 through June 20

Hall of Fame Pitcher and Atlanta Braves Great Phil Niekro to serve as Honorary Chair

America n Legion Post 201 in Alpharetta is inviting High School Varsity, Junior Varsity, Freshman and Travel Teams 14 to 18 to participate in a “Wood Bat Tournament” to benefit the work of the Faces of Freedom Foundation, North Metro Miracle League and youth baseball activities of the Alpharetta American Legion.

The event will be held June 15 through the June 20, 2010 at Legion Post 201’s Veterans Field, the City of Alpharetta’s Wills Park and local High School fields as may be needed.

Entry fee for the event is $375.00 for teams entering by April 15th and $425.00 for teams registering after April 15th. Deadline for entry is May 15th. A minimum three games is guaranteed.

Teams are required to provide one dozen balls per team and each team will be provided with three wood bats.

Faces of Freedom Foundation supports wounded veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The North Metro Miracle League provides adapted sports programs and inclusive social activities for disabled children, teens and young adults in the North Fulton area. And, Post 201 of the American Legion (with approximately 800 war-time veteran members) works on behalf of veterans, the community and its youth.
