Opinions sought : with the teams entered into next week's Mountain View Classic would it be fair to call it a AA-AAA event and should a Major level team enter ? |

looks to me like a AA-AAA event. The EC Longhorns have on their schedule they are playing. Is this the lone major you are referring to? |

They have 16 teams. There is an interesting mix. The Longhorns are the only Major team in. I'm looking forward to playing in this tournament. |

If you're asking for a general opinion ... most people agree that the biggest difference between AAA and Major is the quantity & quality of pitching in better on Major teams. That's why you see AAA teams able to complete against Majors until you get deep in tournaments.
If you're looking for a weekend to rest most of your pitchers and throw guys you wouldn't normally throw, then taking a step down may be a good idea. I have seen too many 13 & 14 year-old pitchers go down over the last couple of years because their bodies aren't quite a resilient as we often think.
This is not a comment about this tournament or any team in particular. Just food for thought. |

Wondering...6 major teams..maybe 2 AAA teams and 8 AA teams? Should be some big blow outs in some of these games..Personally Im glad some of the major teams jumped in...should give some of us lower classification teams a chance to see what we have early.Good luck to all |

I see only the Longhorns listed in Major classification in USSSA this year. The EC Braves and Roswell Hornets were Majors last year. I think that Team Wilson might have alot of Hobgood Heat players from last year. I'm really excited to see how we (Titans Baseball) are going to fare this weekend. I still wonder how anyone in this age group handles tournaments during school baseball season. Do you play to get the kid's who aren't playing with their school some experiance? Do you develop and make your pitching staff deeper? I say this in that our top 2 pitchers from last year are pitching only for their school teams right now. We have played in 2 tournaments so far and I really am glad we have played as it's going to make us so much better in April when we are full strength. I know we aren't the only team with this issue. Some teams only practice on Sunday's or due Dbl headers. How is your team handling this issue. I mean we have 16 teams this weekend. The TC events are drawing big numbers in this age group. |

I only see 1 major-Longhorns. 5-6 AAA team. Every team is in early season form so each is capable of playing well.....or bad. I wouldnt put much stock in class designations. |

there is just 1 team i'm reading that could be a major level with reality
that is not a strong major team though so probably its really a AAA tournment and everyone is OK |

I agree with Cam1. If you know the teams and I think I know most of them well, there are going to be some blow outs in this one. The AA teams in here are low AA teams, but the AAA and majors are all very low in their category too. Looks like everyone is trying to pick up some wins here especially the low majors that have no chance against the big boys. Final 4 and I haven't even looked at how the brackets work - EC Longhors will win it, then Titans, Roswell, Team Wilson, and EC Braves probably compete for the other three spots but who knows, these teams really are not that deep with 4-5 stud pitchers. We all have good athletes, but the Majors have 10 of them that can pitch, mostly better than our top 2. This just looks like a fun tournament for everyone. They all have a Major to try to pick off in EC, and after than, anyone who beat anyone can say they had a good tournament. Have fun guys... We missed this one. |

Chili Dogs could find their way into the final 4. (I believe it is the team coached by Dickinson?) They have beat PS Seminoles, Coal Mtn and the modified Team Gwinnett at the TC Spring Frost and Starrs Mill Panthers(whose roster looks like the other half of last years Bulldog Baseball) so far this season. |

Then someone better tell the longhorns and braves they are AAA now..Is it me or do other people dislike when the trophy hunters wait till last minute and jump in a tourney or should directors even sell out and let them. I lose some respect for both teams and directors who do this. Hey call it open and no complaints but some teams want to get away from the TC and other big events and enjoy winning a game or two. If your plastering the words major on your ad's and web pages then go play with the big boys. |

This topic bothers me for this simple reason. Here is the ad for the tournament:
2010 ANNUAL MOUNTAIN VIEW CLASSIC
Hosted by: West Cobb Baseball When: March 25-28 Where: Big Shanty Park in Kennesaw Age Groups: 13U & 14U Cost: $450, no gate fee Contact: Jeff Snyder (770)712-1052, or jsnyder@premiereinnovation.net
No where does it say that this is a AAA and lower tournament. So why are people getting on ANY team for participating in this tournament? Just because some AA and AAA entered the tournament first doesn't mean it is AAA and lower only. This is simply another opportunity to get some reps for kids, not a trophy hunting situation in my opinion. If the Longhorns had not participated in the last 2 TC tournaments, then I would say maybe they were not challenging themselves. But the fact is they did participate, and went 1-2 last weekend losing by 3 to a South Gwinnett team and beating Milton by 1. Both of those teams would be considered AAA teams and no one would be complaining if they were in this tournament.
This other notion that teams "jump into tournaments" when they see a weak field is rediculous. I believe the Longhorns have been registered for this tournament for a while. Plus, there aren't that many good tournaments this time of year, and there certainly aren't very many tournaments designed for majors. Everyone saw when the Elite Classic posted teams like the Stallions, Vipers and Team Rawlings how many teams jumped in. A smart tournament director lets these tournaments fill up from the bottom up, then creates two divisions after pool play.
The Longhorns may very well win this tournament this weekend, but don't blame them for entering it. It's early, they have injuries and key players not participating yet, and they want reps. Just like everyone else this Spring. |

I have zero problems with the way this tournament was sold. It's breaking into silver and gold brackets, everyone is going to get 3 games in(weather permiting). I look forward to playing some differant folks. I hope our guys can step upto the plate and compete this weekend. I just hope traffic is flowing as getting to this place from Flowery Branch, GA on a Friday can be challenging. |

We were smacked around lastnight by the Longhorns. When you only have 2 hits neither of which were hit hard, you just have to tip your cap and move on. Hopefully we will be better today. Anyone know who won the Braves/Hornets game? It was 3-3 when we left. |

Hornets won 4-3. Squeeze bunt brings in the winning run. Cam1 you guys gave the Longhorns a battle until that 6 run inning. Your first pitcher was very effective. |

the Braves arent major. They could have been. but preseason turnover has changed the complexion of the team. Titans def have a couple of kids that can bring it. |

Did the rest of the tourney fall victim to mother nature? Even the 9am Sunday games were not updated on their website. |

Does not look like Mother Nature won out. Longhorns won the Gold bracket and Knights Baseball won the Silver. Congrats to both. |
