I only see 5 teams registered so far. Kind of surprised since the Slugfest does not have a Major Division this weekend.

Just curious if other teams are planning on jumping in.

I don't buy the school ball excuse. The TC Spring Frost was a sell out, and the TC Mayhem has 7 paid and 11 more interested. I believe you have to be in personal contact with teams, promoting the tourney, instead of just posting a tourney on a website. Tony does a good job of "promoting" the TC events.

The Spring Frost had 19 14U teams so Spring Ball is not the excuse. I was just hoping some of those same teams were planning on getting in. Hopefully the weather will be nice.

I have to agree with JimShwatz here. If you want a good field, you have to work at it like Tony does. The last time this tournament was refreshed on the NWBA Board was early February, so it's now on page 4 of the tournament section. And having it on the ECB web site is hit or miss. The bottom line is that Nations hasn't connected enough with the coaches to have their web site on anyone's favorites. Thus, you aren't going to get the kind of turnout you think you're going to have unless you work at it.

I say triple crown did well for the reason that we used east cobb fields and there was not a team gate fee. Also lots of teams wanted a place to play early. But hey we play everyweekend so i just look for good venue, good price and good field.

SO far in the last 2 weeks we have done nations, triple crown and this week usssa. Spread the wealth baby.

Whits,
I would agree that having the tournament at East Cobb does help draw teams. However, when this tourney was run by the previous Triple Crown rep, she was lucky to get 6 teams per age group and that was held at East Cobb. I think the key factors for having a successful tourney is communication with coaches, quality competition, accessible tournament directors, and decent venues. The Battle in the South sells out every year and those fields are awful, but they bring in some great competition.Yony V. needs to get that tourney! Good day!
