This will be the largest 11U tourney in Georgia this year. 27 teams thus far w/ more than a month to go. Nice facilities, central location, and a great cause.

I hope ChiefKnockAHoma will do a dry weather dance for us.

Last year's Cindarella team was the Duluth Wildcats, but there's a new format this year, so we wont be seeing any AA teams tripping up the big boys like the Wildcats did last year.

I think each Class has made, so the AA's and AAA's can breath a sigh of relief. Plenty of season left to go giant hunting. On the other hand, maybe better to catch them early before they reach stride.

Is it too early for predictions? Who is else will jump in? Can we get to 40 11u teams?

Moser is right on the moncy with his praise of this tournament. This has always been the best place to play early on and if the weather cooperates like it did last year it will only get better and better and of course one of the best things about this one is the cause.

I see those scrappy Bandits are jumping to the 12 yr old Major's for this tournament.

Papa- I've seen you guys play but are you sure you want the 12 majors in this one? Why not AAA division for this one? Good Luck.

bigfan: I will tell you what I believe the thinking is behind playing some in the 12U. Last year we played in our age group right out of the chute and had a relatively easy time early on. But when it came time to play the big dogs and I am referring to Mizuno it was clear that we were not prepared. Our thinking is that we would rather play up against the best 12U and not that we expect to win but we do expect to be better prepared this time when the Super NIT comes around. And to be honest I don't even know if this will be enough against the elite 11U teams that we hear are coming to the Super NIT. My own personal belief is that winning is nice and I never want to lose but if we lose some in the 12U major and can be better prepared then I will take the loss and apply it teaching a good life's lesson to the kids. The 11U teams this year will be the best any of us have seen in recent years and the team or teams that prepare the best will have the best chance to come out on top in the end and in the end it's the end that counts.

I had the same exact thought myself why not AAA instead of major. There seems to be a big growth spurt between 11U and 12U. I'm sure the East Cobb teams are going to be very tough.

My concern for the Bandits revolves around longer bases and extended pitching distances. This will be the first year for them at 70/50 and it does make a difference. Can't wait to see them give it a shot though.

The 12yr old age group looks like a great bunch of teams and I know 3 or 4 more top notch teams signing up this week.

Bigfan, my son plays for the Bandits and I share your concerns too. At the same time, we are in full support of Coach Troy's decision to play with the big boys. Hopefully, the worst thing that will happen is that we will lose some games. The flip side of losses is that we will teach the boys to use those losses to strengthen their character. One thing I believe completely is that our team will give 100% effort during these games and the 12u teams we face will know they were in a battle. The other up side in my opinion is that there will be very little pressure on these boys as they are probably not expected to win playing at this level.

I don't think the 70/50 will affect the bandits at all. The one year difference in age is the biggest factor. Not sure how many 6th graders the Bandits have on their team, but some of the major 12U teams probably have a bunch of 7th graders. Which means some of these kids will be 13 by May June and July. I hope the Bandits do well because it will make the whole 11U division look that much better.

Why doesn't someone have a tourney at that park on Hilton Head Island? I bet it would draw well.

Papa saw this this one year difference in the middle school football program that my grandson's played in. I thought my boys were big until I seen some of the 7th graders come running onto the field. I just hope that Bandits haven't bit off more than we can chew but I will tell the 12U that they had better watch their ankles as our little guys will be nipping at them hard as they can. We look forward to the challenge and will hold on tight for as long as we can.

Moser- Hilton Head isn't very travel ball friendly. They play Dixie Youth I think and frown at kids that go outside that area. John Hayes has had several there but the fields are hard to come by. We have very few travel teams in this area other than machine pitch. Hopefully at 11u it will start to open up. Hilton Head is a great spot. For now all the action is up your way. Look forward to meeting you guys in March. Playing our first tournament this weekend.

That is the same distances we use at 11U in GGBL. I guess it must be shorter in USSSA?

thx for reply. Back when we were 7U/8U (pee Wee) and playing Dixie Youth, I called them to see if they would be up for some all-star scrimmages to prepare for our respective District/State tourneys, and no return call. I found that odd since Rec had ended and the fields were empty. Great area for the siblings and Moms, but oh well...

See you at Slugfest.

Getting close for this one guys so lets all keep our fingers crossed and pray in some good weather for this worthy cause. Bandits look forward to playing the great 12U teams to see how the bigger boys play the game. I watched some of the 12U last year that played up against the older group and they didn't win but they held their own and that will be what the Bandits try and do. I believe the experience will benefit us greatly.

Its up to 34 11U teams, with more than 1/2 paid. 1/2 of the entire 11U AAA classification are listed, and we're still 5 weeks out. Wow!

Papa --- it is good to see you guys entering some 12U tournaments. It should be better competition for the boys and I hope you guys can win some of them!

I'm predicting the whole 11U age division will be cheering on our Bandits. I am seeing a large cheering section on the Bandits side of the field in my crystal ball.

We will keep things in perspective and not get over excited. I have talked to some of the boys and I don't think they are afraid but do sense some concern but I don't see fear in their eyes. I have seen this playing up thing tried for several years now and I might add without much success and I know of some 13U teams that will playing up in the 14U this year also so the Bandits didn't invent this concept.

We certainly appreciate the support of what I think is the best age group in Georgia and we promise to give the very best effort that we can muster. If we can get lucky and do well at the 12U level we will owe it all to the 11U teams that have pushed us so hard for the past 2 years.
