How much practice time are your teams getting in with most teams looking to kick off in mid-late February? How much field time, cage time, etc is everyone getting in? Basketball, rain, cold, etc has made it very difficult for us. Anyone worried that arms are not going to be in shape, teams are not going to be as ready as you would normally like before you step on the field for the first time, especially with some of the early tournaments being as "loaded" as they appear. OR, do you feel we are all in the same boat and just ready to play. I always find it interesting to see how far coaches push kids (primarily pitchers) very early in the season if in a big game against a big team and looking for the win. |

Nearly everyone I talk to has been working out indoors for a few weeks now. Some are doing strength/conditioning and baseball, some just baseball. Most 1 to 2 times a week for an hour or two.
Hoops, weather, dark by 6, are the limiting factors for us.
Our Coach eases the arms into the season, and winning/losing might only impact it by a few more pitches here and there. I don't think he has any hard pitch count rules, but I'd be surprised if he exceeds 40 in March (we're not playing Feb), and 50 in April. Last year, if a pitcher hit 60, it was a key game, and he was watching him like a hawk on every pitch, and looking for the right situation to get him out.
He'll likely schedule a couple Feb scrimmages, and give each pitcher 1 inning, or 30 pitches, which ever comes first.
We are ALL ready to get onto the fields and see what our teams look like. Almost every team has a few new players, and its hard to see their impact in a cage. |

Not enough. Everybody let your cars idle all night, release all the cfcs that you can, eat beans. Let's see if we can get this global warming thing in gear. |

Bandits are hitting it hard with 2-3 indoor practices a week with some outside field time when the weather lets us get outside. We are the luckiest team in the world to have such a great indoor facility that allows us to hit live. Thanks to the parents of this team that supply not only the kids but also the equipment and facilities that make all of this possible. |

Rocky: Go by Shelton Carpets and look at the high walls of the building and just imagine what a place to hit indoors it must be. Papa can get you in without a pass as I know that you have always been a good friend of the Bandits. If the Bandits can keep winning we expect the Carpet thing to completely shut down. We really are lucky to have the parents we have on this team. Chiefnokahoma, I don't know if I can get you in as I think it still against the law to get a Indian intoxicated. |

I think that is what papa puts in the gas tank of his van. That's why he has no trouble logging all those miles every year.quote: Originally posted by chiefknockahoma

Yeah, Papa remembers that phantom team. The phantom team came as close to beating us as anybody out there. Of course they had the wisdom of Manuel and Coach Vega and some of us don't have that luxury. |

What you should have in your head is a picture of a Chili Dog and a Colt and you will have solved the riddle of Manuel and Coach Vega. Papa could just never figure out which one was which. |
