Which group of 11u's is the better group? Which is deeper? How would you compare the top 3-5 teams this year vs. last year? |

Wow, What a question. Is this one of those brain teaser things. This will be a very hard task and I must rest my mind before I begin. |

The accuracy of the answer depends upon the time you want to invest.
Since USSSA is the only National rating system that is available for all of us to see and use, I'd use it to look at how many of GA's 11U's wound up the season in the top 100 Nationally, then do the same for our 10's at that same point in time. Record their actual rankings, then avg them as a group.
Here's a start: 11u last year had 9 in the top 100 w/ avg Nat'l rank of 41.778 10U had 10 in the top 100 w/ avg Nat'l rank of 43.3 I'd call this a toss up. 11's had 1 less make top 100, but had slightly better overall nat'l avg rank.
Now you need to make adjustments for teams dissolved/added. Kennesaw #24 and Grip #47 are gone. Add Team Georgia and any others you feel could make the top 100 by years end. Assign them a ranking 1-100, then recalculate the average ranking. A lot of guesswork here.
Then you'd have to account for roster changes of each team that made the top 100 last year, or that you expect to make it this year. Assign them a new ranking 1-100, then avg the group again. More guesswork.
Since the whole story isn't told by Major teams and even top 100 Major teams in a State, it could take days to provide a complete analysis (this will cost you money if you hire me as a consultant to perform the complete analysis).
I'd guess the rising 11's will pull slightly ahead of last years 11's in the end. Last years 11's had 171 total team that played usssa, our group had 168 last year, so the groups are similar in size.
I think more 11's last year played USSSA (in relation to other orgs) than 10's, but that's just a guess. The EC 11's were much more active in USSSA than the EC 10U's. Perhaps as they grew out of ATP, they are forced to play other venues and more USSSA and less Triple Crown?
That's my take, spending 20 minutes on it.

That's just 20 minutes worth. You should see what he could give us in an hour. My head's still spinning from 20 minutes worth. |

BMoser, Nicely done but I don't think you will ever get that 20 minutes back. Was it worth it? |
