Last year the Bulldogs had 4 or 5 AA players that have all been replaced by quality players. The reason for all the success last year was good coaching and management of the skills some kids had. All the credit should go to the head coach.

I don't think anyone doubts the ECB Titans will be a force to be reckoned with this year. I just don't think anyone not on that team would put them ahead in a 2nd tier ahead of 643, Holly Springs, others. Not to say they won't end up there, but everyone was missing players this Fall. And the Jackets were playing their 5th game in 24 hours in that Championship Game. The Titans were playing their 2nd. Were they over-matched or tired?

Please don't take this as a slight on the Titans. I just don't think they've earned the status that a couple of you guys have elevated them to. Kinda reminds me of what was being said about the Longhorns this time last year. Going to be great, but making excuses for Fall losses.

Much agreed Papa...and I still say the Midway Dirty Dawgs have the best chance to take down the Bandits.

spock: Thank you for that insight. Of course there will teams that will beat the Bandits. We do not expect to win every game and would be more surprised than you if we did. The great thing about baseball is that is has a built in equalizer and that is just the way the ball bounces.

No kid or group of kids can or should they expect to win them all. I can promise you that our goal will be to play as hard and as good as we can every time out and that you and the other teams should do the same. If we can play our game then we will take our chances and you can add 10 more teams to your list of candidates but the one that does it better get ready for a battle for I can promise that we will not hand the win over to you the easy way.

11Baseball11 - Bradley is dead on - the only interactions we had last season with Holly Springs was in the form of scrimmages. Bradley ran his team just like I did mine for them, new pitcher every inning, rotated positions and focused on kids getting work not the scoreboard. In fact, I don't believe either of us even exchanged lineups or kept a book for them. I appreciate the enthusiasm, but like most, I don't put a lot of stock into scrimmage game results v another team but just internally; that is, how my team approached it and executed in it.
Bradley, my apologies to you and your team - ("Just for the record though the Bulldogs beat the Scorpions at state, the Toros at nationals and Holly Spring every time they had a chance.") these discussions and comments aren't mine.

Hi Coach.
Thanks for the classy response. NO apologies necessary. I have no problem admitting you guys got the better of us in the scrimmages. I just feel too many people get concerned with how the so called pundits rank teams. I personally could care less where we're ranked on this board. I'm trying to develop kids and if I do the wins will come. I knew it wasn't you on the comment. You are a class act and did a tremendous job with your team last year. In the second scrimmage what impressed me the most is that with your team up big your players continued to keep their focus and hustle. Hopefully some of our players learned from that experience. We'll definately try to do it again this year.
Good luck next season
Bradley

Thank you Stinger.
First off I would like to thank myself because without me there would be no team

Seriously though I wish I had not spoke up, just take us back out of any discussion. I prefer to be one of those that surprises people, for now.

Rumor confirmed on Scorpions break up. It seems that several of the players got together and left for another team. What a shame! Nothing surprises me in this soap opera world of youth travel baseball, nothing at all anymore.

I was certainly looking forward to more close, hard fought contests with them. Coach Steve is one of the most respectable and generous coaches I've come to know in this game. He deserves so much better!

Titan1 - looks like your Macon Titans just made my Top 25. I know how important that is to you ;)

Newark - not sure you have all the facts on this one. You may want to pay attention to how this board reacts to this news and how many come the coach's defense. The silence may be deafening.

Baseballbrad,Sorry about the misunderstanding, never ment to slight Holly Springs. Just pointing out the irony of being ranked below some teams on that post that the Bulldogs had some success against and ABOVE a team that they never beat. No disrespect intended

Thanks spock: I never thought of my posts as being in depth. I meant for them to long winded. Really though, Do you really believe that there was a baseball person out there that didn't know the Bandits would get beat sometimes.

I wish you guys would quit worrying who is gonna beat who,yes your team may beat the Bandits in a pool game ,but does that matter.Playing as many games as these top teams play in a year ,yes someone is gonna get beat,New York Yankees are world champions ,I think they lost probably 60 games this year, but they are the champions. This level of baseball guys that these 11 year old boys are playing is basically the same thing as professionals. Until one of these teams beats them in a championship game then the rest is balony.Come on guys ,I respect Papa for admitting that they may loose, and that Is the approach everyone should have ,It is what happens after you loose that determines if you are a real Champion.

I don't think anyone wants to beat the Bandits for any certian reason. The Bandits are such a solid team in all area and they have set the bar so high. When you start at AA you want to progress to AAA and Majors and after that you run out of goals. The Bandits are the closest you can get to being unbeatable and they give you another goal to try and reach. It's more of a motivation for all of us to work harder to just be able to compete with them. For that I thank the Bandits for making us all better.

11baseball11:
Great post on the Bandits. I still remember like it was yesterday (even though I keep forgetting where I put my keys) when my sons 7U team first encountered the Bandits. We hung w/'em for a while, but then they turned on the Chinese torture test bunt,bunt,bunt...

You should have seen how our boys responded in the post-game Coaches huddle. "Coach Scott, you need to show us ow to bunt like that" Coach Scott, we need to learn to get them out when they bunt" Coach Scott, can we practice every day from now on?

The Bandits are making us all better. We're making them better too because they know how bad we want to beat them. Doesn't get any better than this.

warrior: Glad you decided to join us. Do not worry about Papa's head exploding as I have played this game a lot longer than most of you can imagine. Although I am very proud of them, the pride is not from the winning it is from the effort and the committment that they have.

Since you have only been here 3 posts, look back at the posts and you will see that I think the reason the Bandits are fortunate enough to win is the teams that we play day in and day out. There are so many great 11U teams in this State and we are fully aware that the first game we come to not ready to play will be our first loss of the year.

If you child plays in this group then he is also very fortunate that he will be pushed to his limit. If any kid is a real player he will find where the "W" lives and reach down and get it and do whatever it takes to grab it. And this state is blessed to have many of these players.

bobo: You sound like Papa's kind of man. Guy's he is right to tell you that you find what you are made of more after the loss than you do after the easy win. When Mizuno Glory beat our little guy's at the Super NIT they were hurt and they were as down in the dumps as I have ever seen them. We are lucky to have Coaches that hurt with them and was able to turn the loss into a positive experience for them.

They rallied around each other, worked harder than ever and the Coaches reminded them every day of how that loss felt. The Coaches used this loss as a motivation to work harder, to practice longer, to dig deeper and it worked and in the rematch we won in what I still think is the greatest game they ever played because they played as underdogs and very few gave them a chance to beat this great Mizuno Glory team.

And it all started with the "LOSS". I hope that this is for the Bandits do for you. If we challenge you to work harder to get better and you accept that challenge and beat us between the little painted lines. Papa will be the first one over and congratulate you on a job well done and then the Bandits will go back to work and try to return the favor.

Papa:
Thank you for the warm welcome. I may have only 3 posts but I've been observing for quite some time. I figured I would do my home work before jumping into the fray. I also consider myself long in the tooth when it comes to this great sport so my responses are thought out with a little experience thrown in.
