The 14U Chargers have hired a new head coach. His name is Ryan Snare. He is a former University of North Carolina pitcher (1998-2000), who was drafted in the 2d round of the major league draft and played in the majors with the Texas Rangers in 2004. Ryan will be running practices, in charge of instruction and game management. He will also be bringing along some former college and pro players to help with coaching the team. Ryan will be evaluating talent this weekend with specific emphasis on available pitching to help round out the roster for the 2010 Chargers. |

If you want to discuss playing for Coach Snare and the Chargers, you can contact the team General Manager, Stu Guber, at sjgesq@aol.com. The Chargers finished 3rd out of 35 teams in the AAA Nationals in Omaha, Nebraska this past June. Coming off this impressive showing in Omaha, the Chargers have already substantially upgraded their roster and will be moving up to majors and playing solely a majors schedule in Fall 2009 and Spring 2010. We still have room for a few more players and are looking for 2 pitchers and one more strong bat. |

Congratulations Stu, sounds like every 14U team at EC is going to be very strong this year. |

The bill is being paid by the team's sponsor, not the parents. |

The Chargers will also have the services of Mike Santoro for the Fall. Mike is the head baseball coach at Riverwood High Schooland will also be providing instruction at team practices and assisting Coach Snare at tournaments. That bill is also being paid by the team's sponsor. |

So are the coaches moving the Chargers up to majors because of the impressive showing at Omaha or moving from a "downgraded" team to an "upgraded" team this year. Hope none of the "downgraded" players from last year are reading this post...I think we as coaches always have to be aware of the fact that players read these posts as well. ... Congrats on your 3rd place placing at Omaha, though I've heard that tournament is a great experience, we may go next year.
